I've got so much to learn from you. I appreciate that you give the mm on everything...I assumed that the clear frit was fine that you applied.
@RocketRoseArt11 ай бұрын
On this piece, yes it is clear. Not that you can't use a colour, but of course it will add a tint over your entire piece.

What a fun project! I was envisioning how fun that would be with dots or dots and stripes (strips? lol), even a lovely tic-tac-toe board, or checker board pattern with alternating colors. The possibilities are endless. Thank you Jeff, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and learn a lot! 👍😊

Hi Jeff, I think it turned out beautifully. I appreciate your explanation of your thought process in terms of the colors you used, the way you came to decide on them (testing different colors before deciding), and the clear frit you used to erase the devit. (I am brand new at this and I'm learning so much from those of you who take the time to post your projects.) Thank you!

Thank you. Would adding clear powder BEFORE the first firing prevent the reactiveness?
@RocketRoseArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wanda. Any where the two colours touch you will get a reaction. Adding clear glass powder between the glasses will stop the reaction, but I would fire the powder to one colour first. In this piece, the reaction is what I wanted and I can't see how that could be stopped, given all the individual pieces, other than using non-reactive colours. Hope this helps.
@jimmymancini585 Жыл бұрын
Why do add the clear frit? Is that just to add thickness and shine?
@RocketRoseArt Жыл бұрын
Hi Jimmy There was a small amount of devitrification that needed correcting with the clear frit. When fused that will end up with a nice polish.
@marciavolin3013 жыл бұрын
I love this piece and the shape. Can you share the mold you used for slumping. I really enjoy your videos.
@RocketRoseArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcia. The mould is one that I designed and had made from stainless steel. At 22:44 in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6K4cp6DZ82gbbc - you can see the shape. It was made from sheet stainless steel. You can see the sheet steel folds down and under to make the feet at each end, with a gentle curve between. You could get it made in any size. If you need the exact dimension let me know. I think it cost me about $40 AUD to have made. Much cheaper than any I could purchase. But the main reason was I couldn't find anything with that shape.

Great video, reminds me of an alien desert landscape with strange trees with red sky. I couldn't work out the crystal clear, was it somehow for the reaction.or had you run out of tekta.

Hi Paul. Good observation. I'd just run out of Tekta. I wouldn't normally, considering it's a lot more expensive. Just waiting for delivery.

Hi Jeff, Awesome piece. What colour do you reckon would be a good opposite for lime green? Also, would it be ok to use clear fine frit instead of power to cover a piece for the fire polish or is the fine too grainy? Cheers Ed
@RocketRoseArt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed. I think I'd be looking at the deep mauve, violet and pink colours. The exact shade can make a big difference. Best is to put them together and looking for that pleasing compliment. I'm not an expert in colour. Just know what works for me. Though it depends on my mood. 😁
