As a fanfic writer, I’d say the format is an independent art form to novel writing for better or worse. A fic that’s been published will have lost an important piece of its identity once it’s been filed off, and that’s assuming that it’s even in the same rough shape a book is in.
@jaginaiaelectrizs63418 ай бұрын
I distinctly recall Lindsay Ellis doing two videos about a lawsuit between two authors of published het!Omegaverse novels.😅🙃👀 😅 🤣🤣 I'm pretty sure the genre has never been exclusively gay, it just became exceptionally popular especially with queer fic fandom and creators because there's just a lot to be played around with there as far as exploring and/or pushing back at the boundaries of societal/gender roles and conventions and such goes. It's especially more common to see it slant a little more het than queer when it overlaps with werewolf/wolf-shifter fiction, tho, I think. (As not all werewolf or shifter fic is omegaverse, and not all omegaverse fic is werewolves or shifters. And I have often found myself accidentally reading het!Omegaverse fiction before when I was just innocently trying to read some werewolf and/or shifter fics; I don't have anything against the Omegaverse, but when it's het werewolf/wolf-shifter fiction it seems like more often than not it just ends up reinforcing my personal least favorite trope[ and often harmful/negative stereotyping] of meek!Female+domineering!Male, and that's not really something I usually enjoy dipping my toes into without advance warning....I like to be able to voluntarily choose if or when I'm in the mood for seeing that shite or not in the fiction I consume.😅😅😅) But perhaps that's just me! 🙂

If anyone wants a political marriage fantasy novel I really recommend "Radiance" by Grace Draven. The main character work so well together. They are just like hey neither of us wanted this but lets make the best of the situation. They are so understanding and supportive of one another, and they are also very smart and quick to defend each other. It's a slow burn to spice. If you want both epic fantasy and a couple that will make you blush and cheer then I really recommend it.

@@katerina9159ok this is gonna be rlly shitty cause i haven't read omegaverse in forever but you asked so i'll try . the fucking head ? of the dick will get swollen when inside the omega to plug up the semen inside so the omega will get pregnant 😔
@thecryptidGrey8 ай бұрын
@katerina9159 okay, so, this will be somewhat in depth and very explicit. I tried my best to phrase it clinically but it's still definitely a sex thing! Knotting is a biological function in omegaverse where during intercourse the alpha's 'tip', to put it delicately, swells up and forcibly keeps them penetrated for however long the author fancies. 'Scientifically' it's supposed to increase the chances of the 'knotted' omega getting pregnant, but it's also often a size and sensitivity kink thing. Only alphas can form a Knot and typically only omegas can recieve one, aka 'be knotted'. Some tropes make knotting an important ritual step to a mating bond and some make it so heats physically will not end until the omega is knotted. The trope is also wildly subject to the writer's whims so what I've written isn't always accurate, but ah well. Hope nobody needs the eye bleach after this! :) I like a/b/o for body horror, which I think the above definitley falls under, lmao.

I noticed I guess you could call a pothole? The bad guys were like “no hybrids bad!” between werewolves and humans…then why would the dad arrange a marriage between his daughter, a full blooded vampire, to a werewolf? Like I get he did this was apart of his master bs plan, but maybe it was this book’s version of “Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet” 😭 wouldn’t he thought of another way other than an arranged marriage?? Usually stuff like this was done in other stories and even real life for the opposite sex couple to produce offspring to further the family line and blah blah blah. So wouldn’t a vampire/werewolf hybrid child be considered more of a “threat” than that of a supernatural/human hybrid? And the whole mating thing is cannon for the werewolves in this universe and most of the bonded pairs are straight couples. It’s heavily stated werewolves do this to further their line and produce kids so that’s why I’m confused. Wouldn’t a supposed master manipulator like Misery’s dad think this could be possible? Now I could see if there was not much info known on werewolf-vampire mingling (aka bumping uglies), but I don’t see much of that in this story review. Lowe (I think his name was- Misery’s werewolf boo thing) said they weren’t compatible physically, but it’s clear he only said that cause of not wanting to share with Misery that she’s his mate. Not that it was unknown and taboo for a werewolf and vampire to bang. God, this confuses me so much 💀

i haven't read the book, but: -- maybe the reason misery didn't put two and two together about the whole mate situation is that she /knows/ [or thinks she knows] who his mate is. he already has one. so no matter how weird and "obvious" his behaviour seems to be, there is just no way smb else, her or not her, can be his mate other than the girl she knows to be his mate. also it's not like she saw a lot of werewolf on vampire interactions so for all she knows vampires just in general irk werewolves out smell wise. the did in twilight, so who knows. also for all she knows, werewolves can be mates only with werewolves. especially since mating is supposed to also be a thing [at least in omegaverse, often] that's connected with like... the person who can give you babies and shit and you said werewolves and vampires are physically incompatible in this universe. so like, it's logical to assume that werewolves can only be mates with other werewolves so maybe it's not so much that she's stupid about it but that the thought never even crossed her mind as a possibility. like you know if smb just doesn't believe smth is a thing, no matter how obvious smth is they need to believe it's a thing first before realise that this thing is what's happening

She’s basically drowning her writing in Gen Z slang and pop culture nods, making it feel like she’s trying way too hard to be funny. I recommend omegaverse BL comics. Every author interprets the tropes a little differently and the weird biology only adds to the story and relationship. If you like pretty art, angst, and two alphas I recommend Define the Relationship

idk maybe it's just because you're so good at talking about books, but this honestly sounds A LOT better than most paranormal/fantasy romance books I've been hearing about lately. granted, the bar is pretty much in hell at this point, but still, at least it doesn't make me gag on my own tongue like the others😂

As a 32 year old woman who grew up reading werewolf romance novels…I suddenly realize where my breeding kink came from 😬
