It is a stand, there’s a brief part in the middle of the story that talks about the nature of stands and the way they can come into being, and it talks about how Hamon and the spin are like steps towards achieving a stand. Gyro’s arc of personalization culminates in him gaining one, because the spin is something he inherited, while a stand is something personal to yourself.

Steel Ball Run has the unique benefit of having an entire 20-year-long series to reference and pay Hommage to, without having to tie into any of it. Araki freed himself of sticking to the same continuity, which allowed him to take what he learned and reimagine the series in a more defined light. Furthermore, this layer of expectation gives the story much to play off of, as a reader you have a lot of expectations and it’s a mystery how or if they are fulfilled. It’s like an extra layer of fun that’s tied to this
@shrimpchris65803 күн бұрын
A really smart use of this extra base layer he has to lean on is alt Diego having The World. It's a brilliant moment of fan service that directly benefits the plot and themes. It comes hot off of Johnny being tempted to take Valentine's deal of bringing in a new Gyro, but it wouldn't really be the same person. Alt Diego having a different stand hammers this home and it being one we're familiar with is a fun moment and saves both Araki and the audience from needing to go over a new stand ability.
@JustSomeDudeOnTheInternet838Ай бұрын
Two issues. One, the end of Part 6 absolutely is a chess game. I dont know how you manage to think it isn't. Assuming you're referring to C-Moon and up. There's Jolyn figuring out was to counter C-Moon, Pucci using Jotaro's love for his daughter against him, Emporio using Pucci's influence of fate against him. Two, I disagree with what you said about DIO. His influence on the series behind the scenes despite little screen time makes him a great character and the suspense of wondering how much he could potentially accomplish combined with the thought of just how much was never found out surrounding him makes him the most interesting character in the series. You could argue its a bit head canony. But for all we know the whole heaven plan was practically made up by DIO. You could really argue that reality was bent to DIO and Pucci's will.

Something one of my friends pointed out to me while we were reading SBR is that in the beginning, Funny Valentine looks quite a bit different than he does around the time we start learing about D4C. And thinks that Valentine was using D4C even in the beginning. Because for me, I chalked it up to "Araki Forgot" syndrome. Or sorta like how he started drawing Iggy differently ever since his fight with Pet Shop. imo it'd be so cool if that were the case since figuring out wtf D4C can even do is such a mystery in the first place. So then to learn after the fact that it was kinda happening right in front of us would be so cool.

When I read Steel Ball Run, it was in the Shueisha colored manga because it was the only one I found on my language at the time and you can really tell that some of the early chapters colors feel REALLY STRANGE while some stuff is downright just bad and I honestly couldn't tell what had happened because the art in the ending of part 6 manga was still very good even in the Shueisha colored version. But now seeing the original black and white manga art in the video I must say I stand corrected and even the early chapters of Steel Ball Run have a great art style and are beautifully drawn, it was probably just the digital coloring people that screwed up real bad and made it look worse.

Araki needed this series reset. Like with stands, they are so much more than punchy ghosts, they are guardians, they are forces, like with the stand that don't have a normal user, sugar mountain for example that has a tree as it's user and acts more like a curse, or a stand from part 8 Les Feuilles, that has a litteral street as it's user. They mean so much more here and are more connected to sobrenatural forces and beings.

How many stands have pink in them?) And finally it's "Chumimin!" In ASB Tusk act 4 has a normal voice when doing barrages but then it goes to a high pitched "Chumimin!" And i LOVE it Hands down my favorite stand Oh btw Hey ya! Is my second favorite stand.. it is the goat
@lucasleonardoharano3540Ай бұрын
4:46 that's one of the things that i like the most about part 7, Araki took concepts and patterns from previous parts and just flipped them on their head, which breaks your expectations for the characters completely. You think Johnny would be a hero to this story, because he is a Jojo, but instead he really is just a Dio on a lesser scale. You'd think Gyro would just be a supporting character, for being a Zeppeli, but instead he gets more highlight than Johnny in the beginning (to the point i think they're both protagonists, not just Johnny.) You'd think Diego would be a horrible person, who would cheat and mess with the protagonists, but in the beginning, he was playing fair and square, it was Johnny and Gyro who screwed him over.

It sucks for me to be a hardcore “watch-it-first-read-it-later” consumer. I want to experience a fresh new story more dynamically and music and voice acting that elevates the experience. I have the same opinion as you have on JoJos. Seeing in retrospect every part as a 10/10 despite its weaknesses. But I can’t comprehend this part to be universally loved and being this perfect. I am just afraid that the anime will not do this Part justice. I mean you have to create something so good that it can only go down. My question for you: Do you think after reading this piece of art that the anime will be catch the essence of the manga and create something that deserves to be a adaptation? And if yes how much time do you think will it take to be as good as it deserves?

I have a lot of faith in David Productions to do it justice, even if the animation can’t live up to the actual insane art in this part, the story is such an alley oop, that I don’t think there’s any chance it’s not going to be the best anime part once animated (unless we get TPN season 2 levels of selling)

The thing I dislike about steel ball run, is how many loose ends and missed opportunities there were. Like Pocoloco. We practically didn’t see any of him, even after we sat up his backstory in the very beginning. Or hot pants. It was hinted at that she was a girl, and then outright revealed to us, and still it had no payoff for the story. Or the cool names of the other contestants. I felt the contestant called baba yaga definitely had to show up at some point. But then they suddenly just scooped out of the race. Additionally, I also think the ending was kinda lack luster for me. I was hoping to see some cool final crazy power, like we’ve seen in previous parts, but Tusk act 4 wasn’t as mind bending as I thought it was… Also the whole idea with the golden ratio never really got a good payoff. The entire payoff was just “let’s just use it more”. I’m also thoroughly disappointed that we never got a full conversation between Jesus and Johnny. I was fully prepared for Jesus to do something super cool towards the end, since we had seen him here and there throughout the story. I felt that it was setup to him getting revived or something towards the end, but nothing never really came of the body of Jesus either. Also, I am just not a fan of how big of an emphasis there was on horses in general. It really was as if horses are these magical beings that can grant you a wish or whatever. It’s cool that the knowledge about the horses ran deep, but I honestly hated how the golden ratio and horses cumulated together in the end, and that a fucking horse is the reason Johnny can use his act4. Since I’ve slandered so much about the part, I’ll say some things I really like as well, now. I think funny valentine is a great villain, with powers on par with villains of the previous parts. I actually really like that there wasn’t a big team of good guys this time around, and that it was only gyro, Johnny and potentially hot pants or weakapipo sometimes. I really like the entire plot thread of Lucy, and her infiltrating the president. As well as the cumulation of her being the bearer of Jesus. Generally, the abilities were awesome in this part. It’s so cool that magenta magenta actually isn’t dead but is effectively imprisoned forever, because of his invulnerability. Dio with the world was a super cool reveal that felt like a great payoff for the presidents ability. Actually dio in general was great, I liked his character and power. The fact that Gyro dies in the end is a ballsy move that I like from a narrative perspective. The callbacks to earlier parts as references is cool. Just like a lot of other parts, it had great settings with a ton of cool places to do battle.

To clarify, Johnny does actually agree to Valentine's deal. He says that he even believes him "100%" and that Valentine's goals are probably far more noble than his. However, what he was concerned about was that Valentine was lying, that he would just use the deal as an opportunity to finish Johnny off. As a result, Johnny tosses the empty gun to Valentine to prove he was telling the truth. Johnny ended up being right to question Valentine's honesty, because Valentine DID prepare to kill Johnny from the beginning, since he brought a gun from a parallel world to shoot him with. That's the significance of the empty gun. If Valentine brought a parallel version of the gun to kill Johnny then the empty gun would collide with it destroying it and show that Valentine was dishonest. This is what makes Johnny more in the right than Valentine in the end. Johnny was willing to question himself, acknowledge his failings, consider the possibility that he was in the wrong. Meanwhile, Valentine was religiously devoted to his goals and would not question them or his actions one bit. In a part about the importance of self-determination, the ability to also be self-critical is crucial for being a moral person.

I watched your intial review of parts 1-5, and I have to say, I think you somehow missed the theme of fate in part 5, particularly in how you left out the last arc: Rolling Stones. The point of Part 5 is that you can't escape fate, no one, not Diaovolo, not Bruno, not anyone in the cast, can out run the Rolling Stone. The Stone's power is there to help people accept their fate, early, if they so wish. Mista ends up saving Bruno from the Rolling Stone, and, in doing so, Bruno becomes fated to me his devil, his boss. However, Fate can be stalled; you can prolonged the inevitable. Mista and Giorno both do everything to prolong Bruno's fate as long as they can, and in turn are rewarded for their defiance. Bruno passes the arrowhead, a metaphor for passing the reigns of the gang to Giorno, and succeeds in summoning GER. It's not unearned, it's Fate's choice that Giorno won.
@DavisFlukeАй бұрын
I def messed up by saying “random flashback” because I do understand how important fate is in this series as a whole, especially parts 5 and 7, I just wasn’t a fan of the placement of the flashback really since it was directly after the end of the fight between giorno and diavollo, and we just didn’t really get time to wind down at all before they threw us into it, but i do understand the point of it

At the end? Cause I feel like that kind of just plays into the themes of fate that jojo has always been about, gyro wanted to be able to change fate but in the end you never know which side of the net the ball will fall to

@DavisFluke i get ur point but tbh after watching them figth against all odds and even dying to achieve their goals it felt like a big "F YOU" knowing that even if gyro was able to free the kid he would die anyways Btw srry for my bad english im still learning

@@DavisFlukeI don't even find the resolution that bad but I think the bigger insult here was that it was done in like, 3 speech bubbles or something like that lol which just made it seem like araki went "wait fuck I actually have to finish gyro's plot thread, uhhh just cram it in like 1 page who cares"
