I just feel like Aron Beauregard thinks that SA is just a think to make stuff scarier, either he likes writing about it (which I don't want to think about) or he's just adding it for shock value to be edgy, Is there a single book (Including sequels) he's written without SA???
@CT-se8vnАй бұрын
No ❤. There literally isn’t. At least of the various videos I’ve seen all covering different stories
@SariniyaKiyuАй бұрын
Tbh many authors think that SA is the "ultimate sad thing" that can happen to a woman. To see him use it every chance he gets, I am not surprised. (Not to say SA isn't terrible, but to use it like that over and over again with no actual consequences to the characters besides a "big sad" is distasteful.)
@kirbystarsagaАй бұрын
I feel like this goes for a lot of extreme horror authors. Genuinely, I don’t think I’ve seen an extreme horror book that doesn’t contain sexual violence in at least some capacity, which is honestly kind of frustrating to me. Adding trauma of any kind in a horror book is not inherently bad, but it really seems like these authors add it in for extra shock value. Extreme horror/Splatterpunk is a genre I’m interested in due to the concept being really interesting to me, so it’s sad seeing authors just repeat the same few things to try and shock/gross out the audience
@L1ncoreАй бұрын
I think he probably just uses it for lazy shock value honestly. Its pretty much always framed as a thing that Evil People do in his books, even if it is cartoony and gratuitous at times. And while i cant remember if hes said anything about SA specifically, he Has done fundraisers for charities that help people experiencing domestic violence. So take from that what you will 🤷🏻♀️
@yukishirusagi4927Ай бұрын
He could make it much scarier by manipulation. Maybe instead of forcing it, we see the bad guy worm his way into Saying how it's ok. THAT is scary

Ranking these: 1. Lasting Impressions - definitely the best one here, though I just like possession horror so maybe I'm biased 2. Seeds of Tomorrow - not a lot to say about this one but i like the idea, plus feels like there's actually something to the hyperviolence here 3. Pizza Face- not great but I can totally see it as a fun campy horror/dark comedy short film, feel like everything with the arcade game shouldve either been removed or built on though 4. Perfect on The Surface - agree with you on there being potential here if the pacing was improved but rn it doesn't do a lot for me 5. Sunday Brunch Gone Awry- if it wasn't for the random SA scene and if they did more with the whole "ignoring danger" theme itd be fun but it didn't do much for me as is Also the one piece gifs r good taste

You're such a trooper bestie 😭 I'll edit this comment after I hear whats in this Kk so the first story, Pizzaface, reminds me of Greased from Junji Ito (it's such a nasty story but I love him for writing it) I think revenge stories are really neato so long ad the build up isn't agonizing. I wish he wrote more body horror like the last story instead of "what's the nastiest, most brutal thing I can do to women and/or children"

I actually kinda like the "perfect on the outside" story, yes its got the overgraphic bouragaurd slop still and i wanted to see the wife beat up her abuser more but there were some legitimately interesting things in there i actually think were good. Pro tip about acne the best thing to do is usually just leave it and not touch it and eventually go away by itself if it's really deep acne then yeah I'll probably take a month or two but it eventually just disappear but if you try to mess with it it will usually leave scars or spots
@ohno4930Ай бұрын
not always true about cystic acne specifically, (which is what's mentioned in the story) at least not for me or anyone else I've met with it. it can be caused by hormonal stuff that needs to be treated accordingly. cystic or not though, if you're having persistent acne that alters your self esteem and quality of life, the best thing you can do, if you have access to it, is seek professional help. (sadly i know that not everyone can do this, it's a privilege) leaving it alone might work for some people but i don't think it's really good to label it a pro tip for everyone! if i left my cystic acne alone with no routine and never used my meds, it'd get out of control. i know this because that's what i did for a long time, and the only thing that stopped it from being unbearable was getting a routine with dermatologist-prescribed medication. it's not GONE but it's a lot better now ur definitely right about not touching it unless necessary though! ive picked at mine a lot and it's definitely made the scarring like, noticeably worse
@breakingoblivionАй бұрын
my dermatillomania won’t let me leave it alone 😭 but this is very good advice!
@buckyyybАй бұрын
that’s just not entirely true. does touching it and messing with it cause irritation and inflammation? Yes! It is best to leave your face alone in that regard, especially with the risk of spreading bacteria with your hands. However, that’s not a magic cure-all that’s going to fix the underlying issue with is the hormones that cause it, and the bacteria it produces. Unless you’re some magical unicorn - sure I’ll give you that. But this isn’t all fact, friend
