I also read I’ll Give You the Sun because of Kayla back in 2022 I think and I loved it SO much. I can’t recommend enough I do think the writing will either work for you or really wont though

I admittedly haven't read Finley Donovan, but I think people sometimes use cozy when they actually mean silly or lighthearted. Cozy mysteries have low stakes and are therefore low stress vs. mysteries that still have (some) stakes/stress but a silly premise and/or lighthearted tone.
