I had the same problem where everything I was reading was a 2 or 3 star and my advice is to DNF more frequently. I'm already getting a better grasp of my taste and this month I've had THE BEST reading month with lots of 4 and 5 stars and an all time favorite

I love that you don't lie about your opinions on books. I like to see various reviews of the same book bc that's what makes reading interesting.

This makes me feel so much better sometimes when I’m not feeling the book I’m reading i want to dnf it but my brain tells me not to but now I’m like yes It will be fine if I just put it down and find something else I like

Same I NEVER used to do it and I just dnf two books in a row… feeling crazy
@maureenvandusky54002 жыл бұрын
Wow!! Just found your videos and love what you accomplished. I’m now 54 years old and my sleep is crazy and all over. Sometimes I’ll only sleep 4 or 5 hours at night, but then be tired the next night and need a nap and then up reading two books straight through till 8 am. But I have definitely learned to DNF more books in the past 5 years or so. I’m not in school. I have a TBR that tipped over 600 last week. But in July I read 11 great books!! I read two s-tier books for me, 5 5⭐️books, 3 4⭐️s and only one 3 star which was Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I’ve tried three of her books and just can’t get the hype. The guys are not extremely likable and the female protagonists are intelligent, attractive, social, and shouldn’t be stuck in these bs relationships. I know people get swept into abusive relationships, but these females fall too fast and shouldn’t take their shit. So I don’t know if I’ll give her a 4 th try with Verity. That seems to be the one people seem to really like. Anyway, if you haven’t read it yet, A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman was one of my s-tier books of the 49 I’ve read so far this year and probably all time. I never cried so hard, but then I did laugh pretty hard in a few spots, too. I have felt everything this man has felt. Now I highly recommend going back to Before The Coffee Gets Cold which was almost an s-tier book, but I made it a 5 ⭐️ because it took about 50 pages to slowly get into it and get all of the characters straight in my mind and what they were doing and who was who. It’s not many characters, I think about a dozen total, but they all had Japanese names. But once you get into the story, my goodness, just stick with it. Going back in time may not change anything physically, but…. I don’t want to give it away, but I cried the last quarter of the book. I still feel all of the feels!!! Oh my other s-tier was Book Lovers by Emily Henry. This wasn’t just romance. It was gorgeous writing. My favorite quote was, “For a decade I’ve known that I will never again have everything, and so all I’ve wanted to believe, is that someday, again, I’ll have enough. The ache won’t be as bad. People like me aren’t broken beyond repair. No ice freezes too thick to thaw, and no thorn grows too dense to be cut away.” Aaaah…. Swoon.. that’s almost Austen level to me for real. It was definitely the strongest of Henry’s three novels and she has another one coming out in April, my birthday month, so I know what I’ll be getting. Continue with what you’re doing!! I absolutely love your channel and style and was very entertained. I hope you get to Before the Coffee Gets Cold and DNF any 2⭐️ books in the future so you have all great reading experiences!!! You have me as a fan

Also I swear I'm having the same thriller experience!!! I don't think I like the genre as a whole??? But I have found horror to be a lot more enjoyable for me. Something about thrillers feel like they are all trying to be made into a movie and force the reading experience to be like that. Instead of focusing on reading characters or mystery as it's own experience, they seem to have the hopes of it being a mass marketed movie. But that's just been my experience I may need to read some more thrillers to see if I like others
