I love that you check out the books!! Its so refreshing to see creators checking out books instead of buying them. Check out your local library everybody!!

I felt the same with The Silent Patient. I didn’t see that plot twist coming either. I’m very new to thrillers and I really enjoyed it!

I really liked the silent patient and immediately started reading the maidens afterwards (didn't like it that much) but I don't know if you remember that the protagonist in the maidens talks to Theo (they share the same universe :O)

I looooved Wicked! I've been fortunate enough to see it live multiple times and I feel like the movie handled it so well! Need part 2 asap

When I was reading Assistant to the Villain, I could not stop picturing the Pokémon Goodra every time they mentioned the Guvra which just made it so cartoony to me pfffft

In general, I think The Silent Patient got more positive reactions than what he's released since. (Not sure about his new one.) I do remember one KZbinr predicting the twist, but that was Kayla from BooksandLala, who's well versed in thrillers.

I shockingly really enjoyed Icebreaker by Hannah Grace (tbf, my expectations were in the ground when I picked it up) and I cannot stand The Song of Achilles. Soooo much 🍇. I felt sick to my stomach.

I am glad you gave the silent patient author a second chance.. i really enjoyed that one. I really disliked the midnight library by matt haig and was very hesitant on reading anything else from him, but the humans was an amazing book.
@ezool1810 сағат бұрын
i felt that exact same feeling with TIG. fun puzzle, bleh YA romance, and for me there was just enough of a mysterious cliffhanger at the very end that made me buy the second book. [vague spoilers below] second book had mysteries, but most of the book became about the love triangle. so much so to the point that when i tried reading the third book of the trilogy, i had to put it down after 5 chapters. i hated it so much. IMO it goes downhill after the first book. and apparently there's like??? ~7 books total so far???

I liked The Inheritance book. But hated the characters and the possible romance. After it was over, I didn’t care to know how the series ended. I enjoyed The Silent Patient but never think about it

Hey Jesse, a popular book 📖 that I love is As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh oh my goodness I cried reading it, and it’s such a beautiful story . A popular book that I hate probably still is Kingdom Of The Wicked or Wildfire by Hannah Grace

I’m so sad that you didn’t like assistant to the villain but I understand it. I loved it. It is one of my top reads this year. It gets even better in the second book. It’s ok if you don’t keep reading the series though.

The way I hated The Silent Patient…whew! I saw that ending coming a mile away, even with all the red herrings.

I wanted to like the Silent Patient so badly but I just really did not enjoy it. I understand why people enjoy it, but I just thought it was boring and felt predictable. I surprisingly liked the icebreaker series by Hannah grace (not so much the first book but the second and third) and I absolutely despised If He Had Been with Me. I kept seeing it all over TikTok and I wanted to cry and the only emotion it caused was anger. Great video as always!!

Have you checked out or considered checking out Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (his other novels too, tbh, I think you would enjoy Nation and The Bromeliad, for example), and/or Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series? They're fantasy series, but a bit different than the kind of fantasy you seem to have read so far (although I haven't followed you for *that* long, so maybe I'm wrong about that!), both for different reasons. Rivers of London is urban fantasy, basically fantasy set in the real world. Discworld started out as satire of then-traditional fantasy, and kept that sense of humor, even though it has evolved to so much more than that. I would also consider both series as 'cozy', although they contain very serious elements and can be stressful at times, but like... It's kind of like the Thursday Murder Club in that the overall vibes are pretty chill and funny. Also both series are British. Anyway, maybe something to check out in the new year!

As someone who just always seems to pick up Alex Michaelides books, I would love to know what you think of his latest release, The Fury 👀 I feel like watching this video is my sign to reread The Silent Patient because I just don't remember it. But I also kind of hated The Maidens, it was not a hit for me

A popular book that I hated so much I dnf'd it was project hail Mary by Andy weir. I'm sorry I just don't have science brain, my brain is art and words and the sheer overwhelming amount of science in the first five chapters (which is where I gave up and closed the book forever) made my brain exhausted. Maybe I'll finish it some day but it is not this day

I was fully prepared for another hour during the Wicked movie, and then it just ended on me! It went by so quickly, but it was so good! A popular book I love is Spellshop, just such a quintessential cozy fantasy book. And a popular book I didn't like was A Good Girl's Guide to Murder --- I didn't hate it, but it was very much meh and I don't really get the hype.

Once upon a broken heart is seriously so fucking overhyped. Don't know how people tolerated evangeline throughout 3 books . I rarely like MC in books but my god she was hella annoying.

I am a social worker so a lot of psych. education and I guessed the end about 3 pgs before the reveal but I still loved it. I agrèe with you about the leagal issues but wrote that off as literary licence. My original guess was the head of the hospital.

It kinda hurt seeing you rate the Inheritance Games so low, but I totally get your points. I think I just fell in love with the series because of how clever it was. I could have cared less for the love triangle, but the rest of the story is so witty and fun, and it was sort of my intro to drama mystery, and it holds a really special place in my heart
@juliacash813513 сағат бұрын
I understand how you don’t like the inheritance games but I loved it. The trilogy is great. You understand in the later two books why Tobias kept tabs on Avery and why she was chosen more and everything. Also it gets even better as it goes on. I didn’t care too much for the romance but loved the puzzles and the guys were fun too.
