I agree with all of your rating, especially the Wicked King. Like I'm also asking myself how tf this book turn Cardan into a very charming and lovable character because he's super clever here yet he seems to reluctantly take the crown even if he actually possess all of the criteria to be one when he means to it! The author really flip the card on Cardan here and convince me to read it within a day :)

I loooove Holly Black's other book seires 'the Magesterium series' It's so good especially if you like fantasy, its base is like harry potter with a misgudges main character, 2 important bestfriends (to the story) and plots twist, tragedy (not fully) and betrayal

I just read The Cruel Prince a couple of days ago and I have to say, I was underwhelmed considering how much this book is hyped. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book! It’s just not as amazing as I was expecting it to be, especially in the first half. I totally agree with you about it being better towards the end. In my opinion, The Wicked King is so much better, and I plan on starting The Queen of Nothing very soon. It definitely got better in the second book.

My heart goes out to the people who picked up The Cruel Prince in hope of full scale romance because there isn't much until, like, the second half of the last book. I picked it up for the mean fae and got what I wanted though. P.S. nobody likes Locke, all my imaginary friends hate the guy P.P.S. 18:55 - man I felt this. I work from home and I would gulp a page or two of this and The Queen of Nothing now and then during my work day (something I never do) because I NEEDED to know how it all comes together. I thought I was too old for this lol

yeah, um, I kinda love Locke... It's because I love how far he will love for a good story, cause, yk, it's all for the plot line, and don't we all just want our lives to be a story that live forever, and I get we are meant to hate him, but for some reason I find him relatable.

I've read all of these books and they are up there for some of my favourite books . I rated powerful four stars though because everything was amazing in the story but i was never really attatched to addna in powerless too much . My booktok fyp pressured me into reading these and it did nkt dissapoint . Also , i didnt like the shatter me series too much as a whole (except defy and unravel me , 5 stars so id love to see your review on the series ⭐

(most people leave it cuz of 1st cuz they find it slow or boring but believe me that's whole set up to book 2) the main story starts from the 2nd book. You don't need world building ahead so please I beg you give the second book a try.
