To me Andrew Garfield is the GOAT of all the Spider-Man movies. And his on screen chemistry with Gwen Stacey is also the best of all 3 interpretations of the Spider-Man genre. There use to be alot of hate on Andrew Garfield’s interpretation but people are coming around to finally see how special this dude is as Spider-Man and Peter Parker. And being the best actor to play the part didnt hurt either cuz his acting was phenomenal.

The reason Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone first met and hit it off and started dating during the filming of this film. This is why their chemistry completely blew the Tobey franchise away when it came to chemistry.

Garfield was fine. I just prefer Toby. But I hate how everyone looks like a model. Original Spider-Man felt more real because people actually looked like regular people (even if they were clearly older than teenagers). I hope that makes sense.

The man in the shadows in the mid credits scene is Gustav Fiers, minor Spider-Man villain called The Gentlemen, whose brother Carl Fiers aka The Finisher was the killer of Peter's parents in comics. Though the Gentlemen was a character made in a Spider-Man Trilogy of novels around the Sinister Six, so I can see what the Amazing Spider-Man movies were trying to go for

Uncle Ben's death is from the comics, it is one of those events which has to happen for Peter to become Spiderman. There are a few of those events and I appreciate that they keep these things in the movies even if they adjust some other things.

Sadly, we didn’t get a third movie to round out the storyline, so there is a little bit to still be told after TASM 2… Also, does anybody know if Stef will do (or has done) the rest of the MCU? Tom Holland Spider-Man’s will make a lot more sense if she does.

Hi Stef!😊 Sony decided to continually reboot the series in order to hold onto the film rights from Marvel. If they stop making films the rights revert back to Marvel/Disney. The first Spider-Man with Tom Holland is actually the 16th film in the MCU universe series. I STRONGLY suggest you start the MCU movies with the first one (IRON MAN) and get to the Tom Holland movie naturally. There will be tons of characters and events that you won't be aware of if you just skip directly to Tom Holland after the next Andrew Garfield one. AND, you completely get hooked on the MCU after the first IRON MON, so you'll actually enjoy the trip. :)

Also, before you watch the Tom Holland Spider-Man films you have to watch all of the MCU films or you will be lost, especially since he is in Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, besides his own solo Spider-Man films. Also make sure to watch the Disney + Marvel TV Shows and Netflix Marvel Series because they are all cannon with the MCU.

Just to let you know, the Tobey Spider-Man changed a couple things from canon/comics. Peter does not organically have web shooters come out from his wrist. Peter invents/create his own web shooters, since he is a science genius. Peter also was not a super geeky teenager though, in the comics he was more of aloof kind of person. Yes, he’s super smart and loves to take photos..he has some friends. But he does his own thing and at times socially awkward which often gets him bullied. Also, MJ is not his first love..he had girlfriends or love interests before her..heck even before Gwen. However, Gwen was Peter’s first love/serious relationship. MJ and Peter’s relationship bloomed later on after his unfortunate end with Gwen. In some versions, MJ and Gwen were good friends or were in the same circle of friends. So yeah there are a lot of similarities between Tobey, Andrew, and Tom’s movies. But like someone mentioned there are many iterations and alternate universes of Spiderman. So each movies are their own standalone movies that intertwine with each other. I love me some OG Tobey and Tom’s Spidey is so fresh and exciting. But Andre’w’sSpidey has my heart tbh..I think it’s the way Andrew really took in the role as Peter/Spiderman. That raw emotion, confusion, joy, vulnerability + his awkwardness in certain moments is just spot on Peter. Plus, Andrew x Emma’s chemistry is off the charts. Even Peter’s relationship with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben is just brilliant. The emotions and relatability is there for me.

To be clear, there's numerous different versions of Spider-Man. There's a reason this is specifically called "The Amazing Spider-Man." In most versions Uncle Ben dies. In at least one version Uncle Ben becomes Spider-Man. In others Gwen Stacy gets powers. Unlike most films when that are "remade," you should consider all of the Spider-Man films as being in different universes. They exist in tandem.

Uncle Ben dying is from the comics and is the catalyst for Peter becoming Spider-Man, so in that respect both the Tobey and Garfield movies use that plot element for the movies, but the way they went about it were different with Tobey's being closer to the comics. Also, Gwen Stacy was Peter's first love interest in the comics. Mary Jane comes later. The Tobey Spider-Man movies pretty much made Gwen an afterthought and focused solely on MJ and Peter's relationship. Despite the success of the MCU the origin stories for the characters have been modified to fit the movie universe, inspired by the comics but not slavish to them, which is understandable as the comic have had decades of character development while the movies need to truncate them to fit (typically) a trilogy of films.

I have been a Spider-Man fan all my life, my older cousin gave me a huge box full of the comics when I was 5 (in 1972), and I started reading them soon after. Andrew Garfield is my favorite Spider-Man, Tom Holland is my favorite Peter Parker. I agree with what you said about MJ in the Sam Raimi trilogy, but the movie did her dirty. In the comics MJ is self confidant, and from the first time she meets Peter she lets him know she likes him.

Stef! Thank you for leaving in the parts that made this different from most superhero movies: Gwen asking Peter if he knew his name. Peter and Gwen in the hallway at school: "Yeah, either one." Gwen on the balcony: "Oh, I'm in trouble." Gwen in the classroom trying not to smile. I actually enjoy Emma Stone more than the superhero aspects of the movie. The part of Gwen did it for me because there's nothing sexier than a brilliant, bold woman. She didn't need rescuing from anything; she took charge.

Tobey Maguire is my favorite Spider-Man but Andrew Garfield is my second favorite. Andrew Garfield did a great job. I'm not a fan of Tom Holland's Spider-Man though personally but I think that has more to do with the writers/director and the direction they went with than Tom Holland himself. I won't go into detail though because that would be spoilers.

Technically... is this a remake? No... not really, but also yes. I think 1 thing to keep in mind first off is that when it comes to comics (excluding anime)... there are 2 that sell FAR FAR more than ALL other comics, and those 2 are Spider-man and X-men. And partially because they are so successful, they both have multiple different versions that are considered "alternate universes". So... these movies...the original 3 movies with Tobey and these 2 with Andrew are different universes...the Tom Holland one (as well as the MCU movies) are also a different universe!

great reactions. in my opinion this is the best spider-man movie yet. i wish it had taken off and really got a whole bunch of movies. the story was better in this one, with the mysteries of his father and why they had to leave. also, i feel they did a better job on the bad guys in this version. the two main actors are great together. i love his take on spider-man it was funny and sad at the same time.

Para explicarte un poco, esta versión fue un "reboot" de Sony, quién es dueño de los derechos de Spidey en el cine. Andrew iba a ser Spidey en 4 películas pero después de la segunda Sony y Marvel llegaron a un acuerdo para que Spidey entrara en el MCU, por eso hicieron Re-Casting y ahí es donde entra Tom. Así que técnicamente estás versiones no son de Marvel sino de Sony. A mi también me gustan estas versiones, o al menos la manera en que Andrew interpreta Spidey. Y la química entre él y Emma era muy notable. De hecho, ahí es donde empezaron a salir en la vida real. Aún considero Spider-Man II (Tobey's) la mejor de todas. Es cuestión de gustos por supuesto. I love the Amazing Spiderman movies, there are some answers, continuation within the recent animated Into the Spiderverse trilogy (2 out so far) & within the greater MCU. Comic readers are used to these similarities, stories being retold, reimagined, new editors, new writers, otherwise all the super heroes we know & love would be... well lets say at best super old. Great reaction, the second one is my favourite, the Garfield movies struggled at the box office, too soon after the Tobey ones & up against the launch of the MCU, shame.

It's worth warning you that if you haven't seen a lot of the MCU movies, Tom Hollands spiderman will make you feel like you're missing a good bit of story. It's VERY connected with other movies in the MCU and the characters have a big part to play in its set-up. Watching this video made me realise Andrew Garfield was a way better actor than he ever got credit for when this came out.
