Though I think it's high quality now in terms of pure athleticism and skill (perfect example would be the tickets), but as a whole, esp in the front court, the talent was much more elite back then top to bottom. Just look at the western conference

i think you messed up your wording. its harder to win back then since there were a few ELITE teams as opposed to now its easier to win because every team is "good" because player's skills nowadays are higher overall
