that is because the software he used was not specialized in this type of thing, check out some explosion demoreels from the software houdini and you will be shocked by how realistic it is

The only critiques i can find is that the initial smoke cloud moves waaay too fast for the scale of an atomic explosion, or at least it feels like it, and the bird flapping is also way too fast to me at least. The ending shockwave is on point tho, gave me chills!

the explosion in the movie was a unique series of close up shots which really captured the anxiety and caotic nature of it. I dont think the point was to have an epic explotion like ones we've seen a milion times in action movies before. This blender version looks like a videogame

To be honest the movie is boring for an Average viewers, . Only physics students can find it related and good.

the film wasnt made so physics students can chuckle and point at the screen when they mention a theory lol. it was about oppenheimer living with the knowledge that he may have been the one to end the world with a chain reaction of nuclear warfare. sure they mention a lot of maths that the average viewer wouldnt understand but if you watched oppeneheimer for that then youre watching the wrong film

I'm not a physics student but have Basic GK about hiroshima, nagasaki,trinity test,And Robert J Oppenheimer.. and some as seen in this movie...It was bit difficult to understand in some point...but 85% understandable...but the best movie I saw in theatres under an English movie category is Oppenheimer...like the works done without CGI was perfect!! And the visuals that shows Oppenheimer's thinking...Wow...superb! I like the last scene with that "Can you hear the music?" Bgm...
