Looks nice, though I was expecting the tail to look less slanted. Though it is a concept Boeing really should’ve design instead of the 737 MAX. The 727X really needs to become a reality.

I don’t think Boeing is going to do that. Wing mounted engines seem to be the more popular choice in aircraft this size. Also, the 737MAX is already in production, and it could cannibalize sales.

These concepts are really nice. My favorite is the 757 concept you made a month ago. Airbus and Boeing can continue to work on the 737/A321 frames but they just won’t be able replace the 757. The 757 concept you made is probably dead on with what they need in a market between the 737/A321 market and 787/A350 market.

One more thing, the 727's APU ( aux power unit) was located in right wheel well with the turbine exhaust exiting at the top of the right wing root. Since the center engine has been removed I would relocate the apu to the tail end of the fuselage thus greatly quieting mid cabin noise from the apu exhaust.

As a retired mechanic for United Airlines I have many fond memories of working on 727's including some not so fond ones in Hot and freezing weather. have worked on the first 727 (N7001) through the 200 series. enough about my experiences one thing different that I would change is smoothing out the shape of the corner edges of where window #1 merges in to #2 (sliding window) because it created a lot of noise and wind resistance to bring it up to a modern front end. That was the reason Boeing smoothed the same windows on the 767 and 757. if you have access to the Introduction Description and Operation of the 757, 767 that explanation can be found there. cheers !

I genuinely think this aircraft could create its own market With how much more fuel efficient this aircraft could be, the range could be, lets say, 4,000+ NM, and it could be like the Boeing 757, but with the ability to land at regional airports, along with lets say, a slightly increased capacity, this aircraft could potentially hold up to 200 passengers, that is something with extreme potential to be huge

I am a huge fan of the Skimitars, and love Your boxed way of saying it. These aerodynamic devices make the 737-MAX look great, and definetly make the 727 nicer too. Wouldn't surprize me if they look great on other planes as well. The removal of the No.2 Engine is straight up Sacrilege! The blended engine intake to a tail cone exit is a symbol of nice aircraft. The 727 and the Lockheed 1011 TriStar both have it, and both are very nice planes. Also, I love how the forward section of the 737 is straight up from the 727, which is straight up from the 707, which is straight up from the Boeing 367-80, which is a 1950's plane. This forward section is in a way a Boeing classic. I love every square inch of it!

I think the tail wings don't produce enough vortex or turbulent air to make a difference. I think most of the turbulent air comes off the main wings and the winglets help to disperse it more quickly and efficiently so other planes don't have to wait an hour for it to calm down before they can land. They would look cool for the vertical stabilizer but I don't think they would serve much of a purpose othe than the looks. I'm not a designer or anything and all that is just my opinion on the matter. Good video either way though so I say 👏👏👏👏👏

Just in case you did not know why there was a third engine. It was because it was required to fly over the ocean the thinking was if you lost one engine you still had two to get you to the closest airfield for an emergency landing. But with more the advent of powerful engines there is no need for a third engine, this is one reason the 747 is no longer being produced, simply because you do not need 4 engines any more. Two engines on a 767, 777, and the 787 are powerful enough that they can still fly on just one engine. The extra engine(Past Two Engines) was simply a backup so to speak.

Boeing missed a huge opportunity by committing to the 737 over 727. At the time, Two CFM56 engines weighed about the same as three JT8D engines. Power would have been similar between the two configurations. Larger diameter engines could have been easily fitted as they become available. 727 fuselage could have been stretched ala the MD-80 and MD-90 series.
@Agamingperson
@Agamingperson Жыл бұрын
It looks more fuel efficent. The reason they added 3 engines is because the plane was made in the 1960's, they said if 1 engine failed they would probably crash, so it became the first trijet in boeings history

Unlike the 757-8 and 797 concepts (but quite like the 707 MAX concept), this is a cannibal... the 757 was made to replace the 727, so realistically, this would never work. But hey, I like the enthusiasm... Also, maybe a slight request, or at least an idea... maybe you'd want to 'hack up' the 717/MD-90 series next? I mean, sounds more reasonable than a 727-X, right....?

Hmmmmm… I liked the last rendition in silver black and yellow… how about removing scimitars and replacing them with a swept back winglet? I fancy the idea of a longer wing, means more space for more fuel thereby increasing range…maybe you probably should have considered the landing gear that you left alone and made the plane more…versatile? Then those engines, hmmmm.a couple of smaller sized Gen-Xs?? The probably make it more slender (the fuselage) so as to reduce weight then the only thing is to add new technology to increase cabin space and voila! THE 727-Gen X! In that rendition of yours, if I had the money I’d have it made
