Twitter as a brand was so cool , since he wanted to build an everything app , they could've just kept it as a section inside of the x app , like instead of the home icon they can have the twitter bird icon and that way they can still call tweets "tweets" , they could've also added the Vine icon as the video section and call them vines , and then they can add other new services like the ai thing , all inside one app .

Twitter has worst UI. If you have dms open and you scroll the timeline by clicking on the for you tab, the dm also scrolls along with the timeline.

When Elon took over twitter, there was this 1 logo design circulating where the twitter bird had its wings open so it looked like an X. Literally their "X rebrand" was right f there for free and they just went and broke everything anyway lmao Also, the vid was good as always! I'm only not sure if that desaturated blue accent would work for a social media app tho. I guess it's similar to Discord's hue, but then again Discord also uses bright red for pings and such, so it looks more welcoming.

The gap on the left side is MASSIVE. There must've been a LOW budget for the design team for them to TAPER the column so oddly. They couldn't even be bothered to FADE the separating bar between it and the tweets.

The Control Panel for Twitter browser extension allows you to bring back some of the stuff X removed, as well as hiding a lot of the useless stuff you don't want.

Seeing those big numbers on their apps and notifications... Categories and filters for notifications would be very good on all modern social media websites Imagine having to pass through a lot of like notifications when you only want to find a reply notification you missed or find out who reposted your posts I suffer a lot in Wattpad trying to find a specific type of notification... Please show me social media websites where you can filter notifications into categories... Oh, wait! There is one, Threads! You can filter your notifications by followers, replies, mentions, quotes (citations), reposts, and verified With Twitter and Threads, those types of actions seem very confusing, I mean, what's the difference between a reply, mention, quote, and repost? Well, you reply to a post that already exists, and you mention the handle of someone on a post you create (action on your post) You also quote (reference) a post inside your own post and add your opinion and point of view about that topic, and repost a post when you like it But there are a lot of actions to do, hehe, at least the places you need to click to do those actions are well-separated About notifications and bad UI/UX... I was watching the video while making this comment on desktop, and I clicked on the notifications button on KZbin I was going to see if there are notification filters for desktop, but there's no filter, only on mobile (they focus on mobile first, then forget desktop users) So I clicked on the gear (settings) button to see if the filters were hidden, but then the video closed and I was on the settings page I lost my entire comment and got so frustrated that I had to start it again... 😔 KZbin wants to keep people on the platform, watching videos and ads, and seeing ads on the corners of the platform It blocks links like Twitch or other rival websites from being put in the description of the videos And blocks people from sending links inside the comments section (gets caught in the spam filter) If it does things to keep people on the platform, why doesn't it let us enjoy our content without interruptions? On mobile you get those ad pop-ups and banners covering the title, description, and comment section of the video If you were watching a video and writing a comment at the same time on mobile, and an ad appeared, it probably closed the comment section And the comment section is so hidden from mobile users, that you have to click on it to access But on computer we just scroll down, and there's 80% of screen space being covered by the comment section, which is good, engagement right? And there's the video screen so KZbin can recommend more videos in the center point of the page which is frequently in theater mode KZbin on desktop also doesn't care too much about comments it seems, they don't show that pop-up saying "Don't close this tab, you might lose some work" like they do on trying to close KZbin Music while a song is playing I know a lot of people accidentally click on another video or link on KZbin when they're writing a comment, and get frustrated when they have to write it all over again Like me, who likes to write a lot, hehe KZbin should say something like "Leaving the video already? Why don't you finish your comment to [KZbinr name]?" Just like it does when it pauses the video and says "Is there anyone watching?" when you haven't interacted with KZbin for some time

02:05 twitter: meta tags are a standard now basically, itd take many many years to revert this since many libraries and websites use this standard, so this is here to stay as a relic probably forever, the back-end code is probably the same, theres no point in changing the backend naming just because of a rebrand, same for this

If they don't do the change imagine a Gen Alpha Developer in 15 years adding metadata, "Wth is Twitter?" For the low amount of effort it takes to accept "X" as an alias on their backend, it is worth it, and it empowers their branding.

You only scratched the surface of redesigning Twitter (of course your inputs already would make it much better) The left side menu is still too crowded, the settings menu as well. Some resizing on the profile would be nice as well. As for the comments, I guess something like Reddit would be the best but here responds have more info so I do understand it being trickier to make it look clean

Gosh, we have the exact same problem here in Russia w/ VK (apart from rebranding, that never happened luckily). What once was a comfy little silly social media for everyone, now tries to be everything but a social media: having its own video, games, business (why), music (that's the only good one), Tik-Tok, Insta and EVEN DISCORD "REPLACEMENT" platforms. It lacks focus and charm. So sad to see the same thing happening to Twitter

It would be cool if the button to reply took you to the reply screen instead of you having to click around the post to see all the replies, and at the bottom of your phone, you see a bar where you can write your comment/reply. I also think it would be cool that for on the desktop version there was an option to see all the posts in a grid, or see them like you were on your phone normally (one post stacked on top of the other) or it being a stretched version of the stacked one where it covers the entirety of the monitor.
