Update! The little guy is growing great and I've decided to make an investment and get him some friends. I am also in the process of making a tank just for them! He seems to do well for me after 8 months, so I am more corageous in growing these guys... And spending a lot of money on them 😬 hey, maybe they breed and I can recoup my money 🤭 currently did the mistake of putting him in my Discus tank and I don't know how to get him out without wrecking the tank.. but I'll manage 😅 see him here kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWbCipSvp76ceMk

Hi Danny, Welcome to the Zebra pleco world. Not sure what they cost in your country but here in Australia they pretty darn expensive at $700 each for a 3cm fish. I too have purchased some, around 12 and now have 10 after two didn’t make the introduction. I like your tank with the plants and soil, however, I was advised by zebra pleco breeders and keepers that they prefer a rocky scape with a little fine sand and pleco caves. On their own, I suppose you can keep one in your current setup, but should you get any more, I’d highly recommend setting up a separate tank for them as described. This helps them in terms of food and there being not any other bottom feeding fish that will create competition for food. Zebra’s are carnivores and require a high protein diet. You could feed them Hikari Carnivore, EBO Aquaristic pellets and Dr Bassleer Bio Food ‚Regular‘ as well as freeze-dried black worm or tubifex. Stay away from live or frozen bloodworms as the often carry pathogens. Yes, even when frozen. I discovered this with my discus and it’s been a real pain to get them back to good health. Have a look at Aquamalik‘s YT channel. It’s pretty helpful for Zebras. Hope you have lots of luck with your Zebra and hopefully this information will be helpful to you. Kind regards André

Zebra plecos thrive in highly oxygenated water. They love high in protein diet. Blood worms are the favourite

the new pleco looks very nice, I really like the stripes :) I had not much luck with a starlight pleco (ancistrus dolichopterus) a long time ago, so I have avoided plecos since then. I look forward to continued posts and information about this one :)

My plecos go craaazy for cucumber or zucchini slices! I just stick it with a fork so it sinks to the bottom.

I got a clown pleco which I thought was one of the coolest patterns and then you show me the Zebra pleco...good thing I'm ok with my pleco not being the prettiest lol he's got a great personality 😂
