I had my baby when I was 19 (last year) and I feel like I took advantage of being young thinking I can eat anyway I wanted. Ultimately I ended up with preeclampsia (high blood pressure) and had to have my baby at a hospital. I had to have my baby one month early and I had fun at the hospital I was there for four days and I kept myself high hoped because I refused to have my baby come with me having regrets or being sad. My placenta ruptured and I got lucky because I didn’t bleed much at all. Thinking back to it makes me want to cry because I had such different expectations but now I’m a mom to a wonderful baby girl and she came out healthy with no complications for her! ❤❤❤❤ good luck to all the mamas and don’t stress yourselves out!!

Same 4 weeks PP with my son and I had a doula this birth and gave birth at home. No hospital intervention. You just have to trust yourself. The doctors tell you things to lower your vibration and to keep you in fear of negative things happening if you don't have them around, but im glad your delivery was a safe experience!

I use cloth diapers I have Nora Nursery, Esembly, Nicki’s Diapers and I found that Tide with a cold water quick wash(20-30min) then a normal wash (60-90min) then a water only rinse helped with the barnyard smell (that can happen if they just sit). Please invest in a toilet diaper sprayer and shield (it’ll be less of a hassle when spraying). I’ve been clothing for 10mnths(she’s 1yr now) and I LOVE Earth Mama Diaper balm for extra protection at night sleeps. Also Fluff Love University(Detergent Index, How to prep cloth diapers& troubleshooting) helped me with most of my problems ❤ great luck sis ! Don’t forget cloth wipes as well, I use Baby Dr.Bronners Castile and purified water on her wipes in a wipe warmer .

thanks so much for the advice mama 💙 i definitely have to look into the diaper sprayer shield!! how do you like the Nora nursery cloth diapers?

@@THEREALCHOLEY your welcome ❤️ for me&hubby we like the simplicity of them. They are considered the better “cost-friendly” ones, don’t leak , can stuff multiple inserts inside, hang-dry well. I believe they start around 8lbs for the regular ones, infants last until around 10lbs(kinda expensive) so most people would do disposables until their babies are slightly bigger (what we did).

Also, I commented about the cloth diapers before I was able to watch the video. About the birthing experience my firstborn (6yrs old) was at the Naval Hospital (wanted a natural birth he just came at exactly 36.5wk)so I classified as “early late”. While my baby girl came at 37.1wks, I was under the care of a midwife who practiced at a hospital (I went in with so much apprehension, fear, anxiety, biased) I wanted a woman who looked just like me, I wanted to labor home and I wanted what I wanted. I was able to labor till 8cm home, I was greeted by women who was absolutely beautiful and nurturing starting at checking in, I immediately became priority to ALL, was walked into my room (did the exam to see I was 9.5cm) last min a MD(black) & my midwife (white) guided me with care , comfort and literally a swift birth. Checked in at 0849 gave birth at 0942. So Mama do not beat yourself up for being discouraged or disappointed in the research you’ve did, I was so upset I live in a place where black and brown women aren’t around ..couldn’t find a CERTIFIED midwife(insurance purposes) who was brown or a center but my experience at the hospital was nothing less of super natural. Walked out the hospital via my own choice (because they were all about me soaking in the assistance) one day later. ❤ use your discretion and discernment

I’m so glad you received the support you needed from a doula! Unfortunately the birth industry (even on the traditional side) will try to capitalize off of the most intimate experience; it is a profession but some services and the prices are straight highway robbery. I am a community based birth worker and you can definitely tell who’s in it for the funds and who’s in it to heal the ongoing trauma we experience as mothers! And even then you still have to find someone who you truly connect with because that’s an important bond to have. What you did was used your discernment to find the right fit for you! Congratulations 🩵

Those pants are so cute! And baby is growing so well. Wishing you the safest birth and recovery. In regards to the natural birth dilemna, if I can chime in as a med student, I understand wanting a natural water birth and feeling like you did a disservice by not doing research. It's never too late to start doing research even if you have a hospital birth. You can still have a doula or midwife present with you at the hospital and you can still have them discuss a detailed birth plan with you that takes possible emergencies that medical staff have mentioned into account (any iron deficiency or blood pressure issues and ensuing complications). Your medical staff should try to inform you, but should never relay the information in a way that it raises anxiety-- concern, yes. Anxiety? No. You can still have a peaceful birth experience. It just takes more intentionality. In the current society in which we live, "intentional" sometimes means more money.

I just had my son about 2weeks ago. I will recommend to anyone considering, to definitely connect with a doula and midwife. One of the best decisions I could’ve made during this time. Also, sending you and your bf positive energy as you approach this new chapter 🤎✨
