The second one that you've eaten is called Lucuma however the one you ate has not ripened yet, its skin has to be softened, and when it ripens it is so sweet. Normally, I love to put it in salad and have it with avocado.

looks more like an eggfruit than a lucuma. Lucuma grows in south america while you can find eggfruit in most tropic regions around the world, but yeah it was underripe, it should be soft when you're eating it.

Hi David ... I would like to tell you something ...for Rambutan , that cost was too expensive for 20 bath ( for 3 or 4 pieces ). Next time better you buy it for half kilogram , you will get a lot more ( 10-12 pieces ) and pay just only 35 bath. And if you buy something it would be a lot better if you look to the scale when they weigh it. Many Thai people are nice but not all of them. I am so happy that you love my amazing country. Well that‘s definitely unripe! In english, it is called the Eggfruit. You ripen it by keeping in a dry and warm place until it becomes super soft. It sweet and creamy, kinda like the taste and texture of cooked sweet potato but a tad denser. But if it‘s not ripened well, it tends to be dry and chalky. This fruit is already popular among exotic fruit connoisseurs internationally. Perhaps you should give it another try..

Your very daring for eating unknown fruits without researching them first. The last time I did that was with an astringent persimmon! 😝 I love egg fruit, but it's SUPER rich and dense. I can't eat a whole one in one sitting. Like hard boiled egg yolk mashed with pumpkin pie. The texture's a little odd but it's very good in small doses. You'll have to try a ripe one sometime. I'm jealous of the custard apple. I've haven't tried one yet but I've never met an annona I didn't love! 😋

The custard apple wasnt ripe same as the Eggfruit. You have to wait for it to get really soft and squishy, once the "scales" start cracking open its ready to eat. For the Eggfruit it also has to get soft and squishy before eating - think an over ripe tomato texture, then its like sweet eggy-ish custard pudding inside.

The second one that you eat is not local Thai fruit, me too never eat that one though I'm Thai. When you buy something in Thailand for a portion, the seller will not give you the correct change, but they will always round up because they don't like to count/finding the coins. So next time when you buy it'd be better to buy in full or half kilo so that it easy to correct/calculate the change for them.

@@davidkhai In the case of foreigners who come to make a KZbin channel in Thailand, the number of followers or viewers who are Thai people is quite high. Have fun living in Thailand and will be watching new Ep. from you.

The second fruit is what we call Achesa or Chesa in my country PH, almost everyone doesn't like it. It is soft and sweet but nit juicy but rather chalky when ripe, the one that you got there is still unripe.

You attempted to eat an unripe Canistel (Pouteria Campechiana) fruit. Someone else in these comments claimed its a Lucuma (Pouteria Lucuma) fruit, which is incorrect. The skin of Lucuma is green with yellow flesh and a different taste profile to Canistel.

I'm down in Melbourne :) You definitely can find these same fruits in the asian markets from where I'm from. But I've never seen the yellow one until Thailand.
