I'll fully believe it when I see documentation that states it in writing, but this is claimed to have a 3 year warranty with burn-in coverage, at least according to MSI's own livestream for the release of this monitor. While it's 1100 USD, in Europe this has a 1499 EUR MSRP price tag (assuming included 20% tax). Very hard to swallow when it's competing against the Samsung OLED G8 (1299 EUR), Alienware DW (1199 EUR), DWF (1099 EUR).

Indeed, I have the G8. And apart from the infinitely better ui the Msi has, there isn't a big difference. The G8 does have an external power brick and uses non standard cables. @jonnysmith54910 ай бұрын
@@lakzerk2344 the black bars problem is a game and video dependant thing. On the OLED its actually not that bad because you wont have this "bright black" from lcds making the black bars very obvious. I play in a dark room and when the oled switches to 16:9 i cant see the rest of the monitor anymore as if it was 16:9 in the first place. Now nearly 1 year of extensive use later i start to nitice burnin especially noticable at the borders between 16:9 and 21:9. The "unused" outer part of the 12:9 is clearly brighter than the 16:9 overlap and with steam in fullscreen for example there is a noticable color difference resulting in a straight line from top to bottom on boths sides from "fullscreen" videos. With OLED the black bars are less of an inconvenience but still kinda frustrating if you cant use the whole monitor.

Of course everyone has different use cases but as a gamer, Neo QLED is gives you a very similar experience and you don't have to worry about static windows etc. I chose the Neo G9 because I have a Neo QLED TV that I chose over an OLED and blacks are just as black that you can't even tell if TV is on or off. QD-OLED still rubs me the wrong way because of the purple hue you get in lit rooms. Doesn't have to be very lit either in my experience. It's so extremely noticeable that everything black is actually just purple-ish. WOLEDs might have some disadvantages compared to QD-OLED (though MLA removes most of them), but I prefer it so much more for the actual pure blacks.
@johnmase924 Жыл бұрын
the purple hue is due to the stupid coating (semi glossy) all brands use, samsung, msi and alienware. QD oled panel itself is pitch black, i own a qd oled TV.

God damnit Ploof. Just stop shopping stuff, you KNOW you're gonna regret it when the next best thing comes around

2160p, 240Hz QD-OLED and I'm set. This is almost there, but not quite.

The first time I booted up rdr2 on my Alienware qd oled gave me a physical reaction. It was amazing.

I've tried to not go 100% into any brand because they all make mistakes, but I've gotten so lucky with all the MSI stuff I've bought. Definitely not a perfect company but I think I will definitely be getting this monitor if possible.

No screen peel out of the box, just like the AW3423DW, not smart from MSI, the screencoating loves to scratch fast, the Odyssey G8 OLED does have screen peel tho.

Red color looks that way because of QD NOT from OLED please be specific .

Why would anyone be annoyed with the msi dragon? It's a small badge. Unlike trashsus that spams you with that pathetic weird eye thingy.

Image retention is imho the absolute reason why I would not buy OLED. I want to use just a monitor and don't want to get dictated on his to use it.

No one is going to talk about the AWESOME headphone microphone combo jack? Never seen a monitor with it yet I've always wanted mine to have it. Only having headphone out is such a bummer

Plouffe just has permanent fomo. I have the AW3423DWF and if someone offered to trade me this MSI monitor for my Alienware monitor, I’d politely decline. The Alienware is such an incredible display with amazing HDR performance. I’m sure the MSI is nice as well but I’m very happy with mine and I’m not at all a fan of the gold color scheme of this monitor.

Can you cover other features like using a monitor as a laptop dock and or daisy chaining monitors?
@Brockzillagaming Жыл бұрын
I'm fairly sure daisy chaining isn't a thing without thunderbolt, and possibly USB 4.0? Either way, it would need to have 2 ports, this just has a single USB C.

People stop demanding niche ultra wide oleds, we need normal sized 27-32 inch 4k oleds. enough is enough.
@200money2 Жыл бұрын
I mean why buy it when you could just steal it from LTT warehouse 💀💀
@Entey Жыл бұрын
Im thinking about getting this one because of the USB C connection. Im just not sure how much the fringing and lower ppi is going to bother me since currently in my studies to becoming a programmer. Sadly, there is not a single store in reach that has ANY 110 ppi oleds out for show.
@jacobmiller6664 Жыл бұрын
I haven't found the 110 ppi oled fringing issue to be that bad at all. It honestly looks just like my older 110 ppi lcd. I have an LG panel, so maybe the Samsung is different, but I think this issue is not as bad as its made out to be.

12:23 its your neck you need to worry about. My posture is bad while gaming for 40 years. It's only in the past few years my neck is hurting from bad posture. The pain starts in my neck and works its way to my head and forehead. I get a massive headache from it especially on warm / hot summer days. My necksometimes hurts when I'm not gaming. I saw videos 15+ years ago warning it would happen and I thought it would never happen to me

Internal power supplies are better (on computer monitors), period. The only time having and external power supply for a monitor is acceptable is if the monitor is cheap. External power supplies are cheap and simplify the design of the monitor. Internal power supplies make cable management easier, and reduce clutter. Especially when we’re talking about a curved monitor, the thickness of the monitor doesn’t really matter because the curve will overwhelm the thickness of the display itself. Thin TVs made sense because you actually mount TVs on a wall or in a cubby. I don’t know of anyone (except Linus in his office I guess) that does that with a computer monitor. They go on a desk, and will always have enough room behind them that the power supply could be added to the body of the monitor. The only reason I can think of where an external power supply might be better is if you’re concerned about the power supply failing outright, because it would be easily replaceable. However, I don’t know of anyone who has had a monitor where the power supply failed before the LCD itself did, so I don’t think that’s actually an issue.
