Same here! I am hoping that programmable hardware "macro button" can be programmed to switch between computers. Many other monitors with integrated KVM still require you to go into the OSD and navigate the menus to do the switch.
@alexatkin
@alexatkin Жыл бұрын
@@CheekSoda Surely that's problematic though as how often are you going to need to switch between multiple Windows PCs? More likely you want to switch to Linux, or a game console, so you still need to use the OSD to switch back.

@rahelwijeyekoon9403 Жыл бұрын
@@alexatkin The OS you're on is irrelevant as the KVM switch/macro should just switch between outputs. That's the case on my M34Q; I hit the button and it switches between DP for my PC and whatever I have plugged into the USB-C (my work laptop or even my phone with Samsung Dex). There's no reason to go into the OSD if you're just switching inputs.

Can't wait for this stuff to get cheaper tbh, I remember forking out for a 'nice TN' with 144hz years ago when it was pretty much a choice between 1080p 144hz or 1440 60hz unless you were going to really splurge. Yet now I'm sat with an ips 1440p 165hz monitor which wasn't much more than my old 1080p one. I'll fully believe it when I see documentation that states it in writing, but this is claimed to have a 3 year warranty with burn-in coverage, at least according to MSI's own livestream for the release of this monitor. While it's 1100 USD, in Europe this has a 1499 EUR MSRP price tag (assuming included 20% tax). Very hard to swallow when it's competing against the Samsung OLED G8 (1299 EUR), Alienware DW (1199 EUR), DWF (1099 EUR).

Indeed, I have the G8. And apart from the infinitely better ui the Msi has, there isn't a big difference. The G8 does have an external power brick and uses non standard cables. Coming from a 34in 1440p UW to a 42in LG C2 I have to say that I like the C2 better in almost every way. No wasted space/black bars, super sharp, and if you really want you can emulate an UW with a custom resolution. Also I bought my C2 new for $800, $1100 seems too high even if it is QD-OLED.

I watch a lot of bus tours and things like that after a long day at work cause I find it relaxing to just sit back have my meal and then turn in for the day. I personally can't drive anymore due to an accident and I used to like my trip to work cause it was a short drive through the valley or back roads and so this is kind of an extension of that. @jonnysmith549
@jonnysmith549 10 ай бұрын
@@lakzerk2344 the black bars problem is a game and video dependant thing. On the OLED its actually not that bad because you wont have this "bright black" from lcds making the black bars very obvious. I play in a dark room and when the oled switches to 16:9 i cant see the rest of the monitor anymore as if it was 16:9 in the first place. Now nearly 1 year of extensive use later i start to nitice burnin especially noticable at the borders between 16:9 and 21:9. The "unused" outer part of the 12:9 is clearly brighter than the 16:9 overlap and with steam in fullscreen for example there is a noticable color difference resulting in a straight line from top to bottom on boths sides from "fullscreen" videos. With OLED the black bars are less of an inconvenience but still kinda frustrating if you cant use the whole monitor.

I think the I/O for this monitor is really good. I got the Samsung G8 OLED version of this panel and their I/O is MiniDP, MicroHDMI, USB-C (65W DP), and USB-C 15W and that's IT. Then they included a MiniDP to DP cable which would be fine with a GPU but I only had my laptop at the time so I had to go hunt down a Thunderbolt/high throughput USB C cable. Wish Samsung just included one of those or an HDMI cable instead as that seems more standard. But I will say having the USB-C inputs is really cool for sharing my keyboard and for DP/power delivery with my work laptop.

The height you mentioned the posture ramifications, but the brightness is bad for your eyes. Several Techies recommend turning it down, not up. Better for your eyes long term, and you can play longer without eye fatigue. I have an older MSI 34" UW with 1800R, great initiation to the market, now I wish I had 1500 or 1000 R curvature. To all you money splurgers (like me), I had an AW3423DWF and just sold it after 3 months and bought a Neo G9. Because in real life after the 3 seconds when you first use it, you forget it's QD-OLED until the pixel refresh pop-up comes on your monitor. Of course everyone has different use cases but as a gamer, Neo QLED is gives you a very similar experience and you don't have to worry about static windows etc. I chose the Neo G9 because I have a Neo QLED TV that I chose over an OLED and blacks are just as black that you can't even tell if TV is on or off. My point is if you're trying to decide between these QD-OLED monitors or mini-leds, choose the monitor with the features you want because you'll be WOWed with either panel.

Depends on set up, but generally I agree it won't mesh well with most. You should be using a custom mounting solution with these anyway (with the exception of Samsung's own model). I couldn't wait to get rid of the Alienware stand, take's up too much space and causes the monitor to push out too far.

@spinnenente

text fuzzyness is also dependent on how the cleartype is set up. But if you sit too close you can see color fringing (tbh normal rgb monitors also have this issue but cleartype can work around it better)

I own an MSI G27C 1st gen and it was a nightmare. It wouldn’t detect most inputs that other monitors have no problem with and would randomly turn blue. Now the HDMI and DP connectors only work at 1280 x 800 and look terrible.

QD-OLED still rubs me the wrong way because of the purple hue you get in lit rooms. Doesn't have to be very lit either in my experience. It's so extremely noticeable that everything black is actually just purple-ish. WOLEDs might have some disadvantages compared to QD-OLED (though MLA removes most of them), but I prefer it so much more for the actual pure blacks.
@johnmase924
@johnmase924 Жыл бұрын
the purple hue is due to the stupid coating (semi glossy) all brands use, samsung, msi and alienware. QD oled panel itself is pitch black, i own a qd oled TV.

Plouffe just has permanent fomo. I have the AW3423DWF and if someone offered to trade me this MSI monitor for my Alienware monitor, I’d politely decline. The Alienware is such an incredible display with amazing HDR performance. I’m sure the MSI is nice as well but I’m very happy with mine and I’m not at all a fan of the gold color scheme of this monitor.

I'm fairly sure daisy chaining isn't a thing without thunderbolt, and possibly USB 4.0? Either way, it would need to have 2 ports, this just has a single USB C.

I haven't found the 110 ppi oled fringing issue to be that bad at all. It honestly looks just like my older 110 ppi lcd. I have an LG panel, so maybe the Samsung is different, but I think this issue is not as bad as its made out to be.

12:23 its your neck you need to worry about. My posture is bad while gaming for 40 years. It's only in the past few years my neck is hurting from bad posture. The pain starts in my neck and works its way to my head and forehead. I get a massive headache from it especially on warm / hot summer days. My necksometimes hurts when I'm not gaming. I saw videos 15+ years ago warning it would happen and I thought it would never happen to me

Internal power supplies are better (on computer monitors), period. The only time having and external power supply for a monitor is acceptable is if the monitor is cheap. External power supplies are cheap and simplify the design of the monitor. Internal power supplies make cable management easier, and reduce clutter. Especially when we’re talking about a curved monitor, the thickness of the monitor doesn’t really matter because the curve will overwhelm the thickness of the display itself. Thin TVs made sense because you actually mount TVs on a wall or in a cubby. I don’t know of anyone (except Linus in his office I guess) that does that with a computer monitor. They go on a desk, and will always have enough room behind them that the power supply could be added to the body of the monitor. The only reason I can think of where an external power supply might be better is if you’re concerned about the power supply failing outright, because it would be easily replaceable. However, I don’t know of anyone who has had a monitor where the power supply failed before the LCD itself did, so I don’t think that’s actually an issue.
