Hi, Well Yeah I agree - If you don't have a welder or the skills to make the unit which seems to be a neat lifting device - but at my age I waste a little less time on these videos by asking the Question at the start of being attracted by the Click bait titles to DIY projects - So What I do is ask that Question first up of what exactly is being made - then skip to the end in stages by pausing at various points in the video - so probably 1-2 mins tops to assess If I could do the project and roughly what skills and tools/materials were needed - So that is not a project I would undertake without full on welding skills that I don't have nor have the Time to Learn - any time soon - just to lift something heavy. 😉🙃

Great question! If you only have a chain and a large sprocket, you could consider using a tension system to maintain the power transfer. You could also look into adding more links or using different sprockets for better gear ratios. Have you thought about trying a custom DIY solution for that?

Doing it the hard way. Why not use a large hole saw to cut the outer radius then a small hole saw for the inner hole no grinding needed that way.
@masterQ20Ай бұрын
That’s actually a smart idea! Using hole saws can definitely save time and effort, especially for clean cuts. Have you tried this method in any of your projects before? Would love to hear how it worked out!

So you wished that you learned this at 50 a “Manuel winch”! You be amazed if you ever walked in harbor freight and seen that can buy one for half the cost you have in just metal 😂 and they may even have those magic ones that they call an “electric winch” WOW!

Haha, I see your point! Sometimes, DIY projects can get a bit pricey when there are ready-made solutions out there. But hey, there’s something special about creating something with your own hands, don’t you think? Have you ever worked with winches before?

You're 50, and you've never seen a come along?🙄
@masterQ20Ай бұрын
Haha, I guess everyone has their own experiences! A come along is definitely a useful tool. Have you worked with one before or tried out any other cool tools in your DIY projects?
@seanhammer6296Ай бұрын
@masterQ20 Yes, I've used a come along, mostly to get my van out of the mud. I did make a tree puller with a come along using 3 4×4s with an 1 1/2 hole drilled through them, near the top, and a pipe going through. Two on one side, one on the other to form a tripod, sort of. I only ended up pulling one small tree with it, though. My background is more in carpentry, so all the welding stuff is more interesting to me. But I'm almost 60 and still busy trying to survive, so I doubt I'll get around to too much welding. Cheers
