@@BeaudmanIt is hated on for good reason. Devs made lots of strange mechanical choices like ADP and losing your max health after every death, as if Dark Souls isn’t hard enough with full health. There are many more but instead of list them all here I would just say to watch a youtube vid since there are so many that go in depth. With all that said, one of my favorite quotes to describe this game is “the worst of the best is still better than most”. Hence why it still won game of the year, and I still enjoy it, just less than the others.

I beta tested it and I remember how over the moon people were for this game. It definitely has some rough, unfinished ideas. But they don't ruin the game. And a lot of what myth was complaining about (like it being too dark) is because he's playing a randomizer and doesn't have torches. And he said some areas needed more bonfires, but he must have run past 6 already. Not the games fault.

@@Beaudman I didn’t say it is hated, but it is hated on, meaning the majority of people usually talk about the negatives when they discuss DS2 and I think it is warranted. There are plenty of reasons why it is considered the worst. One of the biggest being the sheer amount of enemy spam. Too many times does the difficulty come from throwing 10+ enemies at once, or adding enemies in boss fights to artificially create difficulty rather than create interesting and complex fights. It is not fun to die, and it is even less fun when you are gang banged around every corner. An interesting boss fight is ruined when you have to juggle 3 pointless enemies on top of it. Ornstein and Smough in DS1 is regarded as one of, if not THE best multiple-enemy boss fight ever, because it is balanced with a fast and slow enemy that complement each other’s movesets. What isn’t fun is clicking ctrl C + ctrl P twice and creating the ruin sentinels. nothing about them is interesting and there is no reason for there to be 3 with basically the exact same moveset, it is lazy. Like I said, I enjoyed DS2, I have beat it multiple times, but it doesn’t get hate for no reason.

If I remember correctly as long as you have torches in your inventory you can light them at bonfires to then light lamps around the place in darker areas like the gutter. Or light with flame butterflies, so it doesn't have to be so dark all the time. Assuming the randomiser gives you torches that is

Haven't played ds2 in a while but you can light a torch with flame butterflies or from the bonfire by interacting with it (switch action and light torch I think). Also there isn't really a torch 'item' like in elden ring you lose the torch when it gets wet or you run out of time for the torch (displayed in inventory I think?)

Its a game that i tried to revisit again after many MANY Years, and i thought you might love it. The game is very Nostalgic for me cuz, its one of those games that i played when i was like 5. Its pretty old, but its Artstyle is still GORGEOUS. And one thing i realized now (that i didnt when i was 5) is its SoundTracks. They are BANGERS! Yeah, its up to you. The game might only be so fun for me because its so nostalgic. you know the vibes some games you played for a long time ago gives. Old-game-vibes, u know. if you search it up it should be the game that has blue/red artstyle and some black, forest terrain and stuff. you should find it.
