I saw the current west end production of Phantom last week, and I wanted to see my favourite scene again somehow, so naturally I turned here. Let me tell you, the on stage was so much more emotive and creepy. Phantom was running frantic, pushing candles over etc, etc. Then at one point he collapsed on the stage and was almost army crawling towards Christine with one hand on his face during the lines “…fear can turn to love…” To say the absolute least, his performance was *enthralling*

😂😂 That's it!! He's bipolar because of what he had to pass through on his life. He acts violently to keep himself away from stupid (and evil) people, specially when he feels offended; but the point is that he loves Christine too much, his love was pure and genuine, and it was stronger than any other feeling inside of him, including his fear and wrath. That's why he frees her completely at the ending, since the unmasking scene it was obvious that he wouldn't really hurt her, he was afraid and that's why he acts violently sometimes. He changed and recognized his mistakes, he recognized he was still a human with a good, broken heart.

Watching this (or reading this book) as an intelligent person, you notice you have *NO RIGHT* to judge Erik. He didn't trouble Christine, she forgave him and still loved him (not as a husband, though) even after everything they pass throught, this is the message of the story. Redemption. All Erik needed was love, redemption. He was abandoned, shunned, shamed, horribly abused all of his life, he was crying out for HELP and Christine noticed that. He's not a perfect angel or faultless, he's a human. A good human, in need of love, and not judgment.

I think the shoving was accidental. I think he was so busy trying to hide his face he didn’t realize until after the fact he shoved her. But yeah, for the most part I must agree.

He was phisically and mentally abused all his childhood anf life. 2)Crhistine in the movie and in the book is in her 20, she isnt a CHILD but a young woman, so Erik did not groomed her, and in the book he never pretend to be the angel of music...Crhistine start to thinks it after he confort her the first time.. 3)the whole film and book talk about his redemption...about him screaming help, and she did notice it! That's why SHE PITY HIM, and loved him...not at the same way he loved her, but she does actually love him.. We can not jude him for how he acted. He imitates the others, because he wanna feel loved for once, he did not know best..

It's how quick the sweet singing of their voices and caresses to immediately getting shouted daggers and cursed purgatory, only cause Christine saw fit to remove the obviously insecure guy's mask. It's a deep moment but I couldn't refuse to giggle a bit.
