This could very well be the person sneaking the secret messages onto the past recordings. He very obviously holds a tremendous respect/reverence to whatever the "seabed" is, perhaps the other dimension. Looking at the footage on this too, something has clearly happened at A-Sync which has caused much of the staff to flee in a hurry. I suspect the meddling that they've done in the other dimension will result in drastic consequences for the rest of the Earth.

After watching the recent Reunions video, I feel like this could be Peter (the man who stole the shotgun) narrating this. The way the narrator describes how he had a home and that it was forgotten, but he remembers it all. There's a lot of ways this could turn out, and I'm excited for whatever Kane chooses.

Agreed. I came back to rewatch this video after seeing Reunion and the secret link in Reunion's info. I was like hmmm... I think you are onto something. I also think Peter is the one who wrote tat map on the wall as well as a future Peter was the one to scribble the arrows and the "Stay Still" to warn himself.
@tenacityxl
@tenacityxl Жыл бұрын
I wonder if the researcher we see in this video is Peter. Peter(for lack of a better term) got displaced in time, so that could totally be him. An alternative theory is that the Backrooms somehow *copied Peter* and made multiple versions of him. One went crazy after being forgotten, the other got debriefed and covered up. I’m mainly basing this on the imagery of this video: how the researcher seemingly splits into two separate directions. It’s a reflection of himself, literally.

Its like the backrooms are alive… a form of an obscure consciousness that always remembers what we always seemingly forget. Listening to this feels so… hypnotizing and synoptic
@masteredultrainstinctlucar1239
@masteredultrainstinctlucar1239 Жыл бұрын
You might actually be into something for a lot of the versions of the backrooms, there are a few levels on the wikidot that seem to be alive, like level 30, level 148, and level 790, as these levels are described to be as if they are alive, heck level 148 is literally named the living level, so there’s that.
@Goldenkitten1
@Goldenkitten1 Жыл бұрын
@@masteredultrainstinctlucar1239 Except to my knowledge Kane Pixels isn't basing this off of any existing lore except the concept of the backrooms and their appearance itself. The organization studying it, the machinery being used, tying it into real life events like the Earthquake and the monsters we've seen are all his take on a totally separate canon for the idea.

@@red_reaper1729 Er, I don't think anything is wrong with them. What they said made perfect sense. The video literally implies that the Backrooms is where everything goes to eventually be forgotten. But the backrooms itself never forgets; whether that be literal in that the backrooms is somehow alive, or figurative in that once everything is gone the backrooms will still exist as a mirror image of the things it swallowed. And the video is told in a very hypnotic way with a neutral voice over imagery imagery folding in over itself as that voice explains what I stated above. Were OPs "big words" too much to understand?
@cr4shmycar118
@cr4shmycar118 Жыл бұрын
At the end, the voice saying "It has always been here" makes me think of the Backrooms like a collective unconscious, a dimension of forgetting made manifest. Think about it, do you truly remember any of the types of spaces similar to the Backrooms? Office buildings, indoor pools, furniture stores. You might remember what you've seen in them, what's happened in them, but not the space itself, not like you'd be able to map out your home or even city. Maybe the Backrooms takes on its form because of what we've forgotten: "liminal" locations, objects like a specific couch or the giant chairs we saw in Found Footage... maybe even the monsters dwelling in the Backrooms are things we've forgotten. Maybe they're forgotten people trying to claw their way back into living memory, or maybe they're concepts like nightmares being twisted into a physical form. Accessing the Backrooms could be imbalancing its very nature, since you're sending something remembered into a dimension of forgetting, so areas where one can noclip are created in reality to try and balance it out. That's my theory, I admit I'm more of a purist when it comes to the idea of the Backrooms so I tend to stick to the original vibe of it over any other explanations.

Immediate interpretation: the "sea/ocean" is meant to represent the Backrooms; Talking about a house and other things "cast down to the seabed with all the other forgotten things." As in objects or places that were forgotten becoming a part of the Backrooms. And the person talking, the person who "remembers" could represent Async, who rediscovered that which was once forgotten. An example being the Picture seen in "Found Footage #2" and the home video. This could explain why the Backrooms is the way it is in the first place: it's the physical manifestation of being forgotten. "Folding downwards, into themselves" "Forever tearing along the seams of the sky" Describing how the Backrooms molds these memories into something; only to tear itself and all reality apart-- creating a labyrinth of twisted halls that look like they were made by humans... but could never have been due to how unreal they are.

I think the house being consumed by the sea is a metaphor for how the backrooms will consume reality. I think it’s the monster that’s talking. We know it can imitate people because of the Pitfalls video. So the monster could definitely be the one talking in this video. “I had a home once…” There’s a painting in what seemed to be the monsters home room in found footage 2. In a link to a hidden video in found footage 2’s description, the end of the video zooms in on that same painting. Maybe the monster was once a person who owned that home, and the backrooms is just a manifestation of his trauma and grief of losing his home to the sea.

From what i got from this, if "The Sea" is The Backrooms, that would mean that the "Manor looking over the sea" is Async. Given that, "The house was taken from the sea" hints towards that at some point, Async is destroyed by something in the backrooms or the backrooms itself. We can also assume that the man speaking worked at Async, since he claims the manor was his home. Also, I believe that the line "folding inwards, tearing seams in the sky" is a metaphor. If the sea is the backrooms, it stands to reason that the sky is the real world, and that effects of Asyncs meddling with the backrooms are still present even after their destruction, slowly tearing apart the real world. EDIT: This may be a bit of a stretch, but the speaker claims that the manor (Async) was a vestige calling on to strangled ears. This could mean that either Async used to be a much bigger organization, or (more likely, in my opinion) was something a group of people (the "strangled ears") worked tirelessly towards, and Async being founded was what sparked the project back into action.

*"I had a home once, a manor, overlooking the sea"* - The manor is Async, the sea is the backrooms. *"Upon the world this was a vestige, calling forward onto strangled ears"* - vestige, a remnant of something forgotten. Async abandoned the backrooms project, perhaps when they lost funding. *"But when skies turned dark, the house was taken by the sea"* - I don't know. Perhaps all of Async's facilites were swallowed up by the backrooms. Or Async ran into difficulties with the backrooms, which in hindsight seems much more likely. *"A pillar truncated"* - truncated, to be cut short. Perhaps the US was too hasty in cutting funding to Async. Perhaps there was more to be found? *"Cast down to the seabed with all the other forgotten things."* - pretty self explanatory. *"But i remember. Fleeting shells sinking ever slowly"* - things, maybe even people, sinking into the sea of the backrooms. *"folding downwards into themselves. Forever tearing along the seams of the sky. Until nothing remains except the eternal ghost."* - more and more things are disappearing into the backrooms, until nothing remains except the incorporeal being, completely unaffected by the backrooms. *"And you ask yourself: could there ever be anything greater than this?"* - perhaps referring to the backroom's immense, maybe even infinite scale. *"we have always been here"* - The narrator is an Async researcher, that we already know, since he claimed the manor (Async) was his home. so why would he say "We"? It could also be "You have always been here", but who is he addressing? Looking at it more closely, i wonder what the picture at the very end was. There's some text in the corner: *"CR9-S8, R3"* (or 58 instead of S8 as TK1532 pointed out in the comments) I searched it up, and found a reddit post on Kane Pixel's subreddit. Someone on there said that "S8" stood for "Server 8" and that "R3" stood for "Room 3", but didn't know what CR9 stood for. I also searched for "CR server storage" if there was anything useful there. Nada. Maybe it means "Contents Router" but i don't know enough of web stuff, so i can't really judge on that. Also interesting how they show only pictures related to the backrooms, the sea, servers presumably used by Async, a building, maybe an Async facility, and then the actual prototype.

i gotta say most backrooms stuff feels like low-rent SCPs made by 12 year olds but your series here is fantastic. the uncanniness of the place, the sheer incomprehensibility of the size, age, logic, and geometry of it makes it feel truly genuinely eldritch and otherworldly, and the confidence and restraint with which it's delivered elevates it to a work of real merit. it's like if lovecraft dropped the whole cthulhu mythos and instead made a really really great segment for one of those V/H/S anthology films they do. really stellar job, super excited for whatever is to come

That last line is fascinating: "You have always been here." If the Frontrooms/Baseline Reality is now being time-warped by Async's experiments (outside the threshold of the Backrooms), as suggested by the Simpson's episode video, then maybe even past history itself is changing in the Frontrooms/reality (past being changed) so that the Frontrooms/Baseline Reality are now becoming and (eventually) will have always been part of the Backrooms (confusing, yes, but time stuff is, anf that's why one should not play around with it). Also, the "guy looking over the manor" and "is there anything greater than this?" gives me creepy vibes like that lone administrator in black who stood at the windows overlooking the threshold at Async in previous videos. Maybe this is him, and he's gone through a change for the worst? I'm probably wrong, but it’s great to speculate! (Also THANK YOU SO MUCH Kane for the captions this time! ❤ Those of us in the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community appreciate being able to enjoy your work as you intend it. 😀 Don't know why KZbin doesn't do automatic captions on most of your previous videos, but there’s an awesome fanbase who type it all down for us too, so thanks. ☺❤)

I think I have the metaphor of this. The sky is the real world, and the backrooms is the sea. Things that are forgotten fall to the sea, "cast down to the seabed with all the other forgotten things". When Async started investigating the backrooms, they built a manor. They changed the horizon, causing random things to clip into the backrooms. Then, Async shut down their backrooms operations, forgetting about the manor. Most of it crumbled down to the seabed, but the ruins permanently changed the horizon. This would make sense, as the backrooms is a collection of liminal spaces, spaces we recognise, but have forgotten, places we think we have never seen but we have, we have just forgotten. The name the backrooms even applies to this, the backrooms of any place, a restaurant, a cinema, even a hotel. Places we only travel through momentarily, and forget. What if when people get forgotten, so do their possessions? What if the reason for the distortion of the voice is because the voice is one of the bacteria monsters? What if the bacteria monsters are people who have been forgotten, lost to eternally wander the backrooms, decaying but not dying? Maybe this is why they kill people who have noclipped into the backrooms, to stop them living an eternity of torment, as they have to. I think that whatever is speaking in this video is the Async researcher that tripped off the alarm. I think that maybe time works differently in the backrooms, and he set off that Async alarm some amount of time after Async closed. Then the video ended. He was forgotten. His manor crumbled and he was left to decay eternally in the backrooms. Edit: Ok, so maybe the entity speaking isn't that particular Async researcher. I just rewatched presentation and it makes sense that the researcher was found before Async closed. I have another theory. The video shows a researcher, so I'm assuming that that is one of the entitiy's memories. The only two entities which have seen researchers are the level 0 one, and the null zone one. But the video is actually following the researcher, moving. either this is a hella small entity or the researcher is the entity. The only problem is that no researchers are recorded to have died. So what if, ladies and gentlemen the entity is none other than the body that was found much earlier in the series. This matches with everything. The entity would have seen a researcher carrying it to the autopsy room. And then, they placed the body in a metal chamber, and forgot about it. That is why the voice is so ravaged. A half decayed voicebox and the echo of the chamber walls, it's final tomb. It describes its previous life as a manor, which it would seem like compared to the Claustrophobic tank it is trapped in. Someone asked about noclipping, now this would be caused by, as I said the horizon being changed by Async. It's the equivalent of someone getting swept out to sea by a tidal wave, the one caused by Async and their meddling. Finally, someone said about the green cracks in found footage 2. I think that as you travel further out into the backrooms, the more familiar things get, until they are things people actually remember. The room disappeared like that because either she, or somebody outside the backrooms, remembered it. Edit Edit: I know that we don't know enough about the bacteria, but scientifically, bacteria multiply, so if someone is found with a mutated bacterial infection, then it's safe to assume that that infection will grow to be just like what caused it. Also, it is just a theory and could be totally off, just trying to make sense of it. As for noclipping, away from the metaphorical sense, I think effectively async broke something in reality and now things are going missing which shouldn't, things which people remember and care about.

I love this because it's a perfect trailer for Kane's project. It doesn't tell us anything, but it gives us the feeling and dreamlike ideas that every episode has seeded in themselves. Everything this creator makes is so articulate and it's so lovely and in a way charming to see if that makes sense? Like in our horror culture filled with cheap scares and poor writing, it's so heart warming to see something that has so much care given to the most meticulous of things. Of course there are other outliers to the horror genre as well, I just hope that this means that we may be in the beginning of a renaissance of media from a younger generation. It's not all I think about when watching these Backrooms eps, but it just makes me think about more than just itself. FORMING THOUGHTS INTO WORDS IS HARD DAMMIT 😂

ok I have a theory that when he says: "Fleeting shells ever so slowly, folding downward into themselves. Forever tearing along the seams of the sky." he is using a metaphor to describe the process of how the backrooms pulls things into it. Based off what we have seen, Async created a threshold to a sort of in-between-verse or null-verse that is attached to our world. Except what they created was broken and fractured. As it's copying places or things from our world, it doesn't duplicate correctly causing the "shells" or empty rooms of our world to warp and break, "folding downward into themselves" creating rooms, staircases, and entranceways that don't make sense. Duplicating things such as the holes in the pitfalls video or grand open areas. These broken rooms seem to stretch the limits of that null-verse causing tears and instances. "Forever tearing along the seams of the sky" Creaks or weak points between the realities that can pull anything from humans to whole chunks of neighborhoods. I agree with some of the other commenters stating that the sky is our world and that the backrooms is the sea. It makes me wonder if living things like trees and people can get noclipped, why can't animals? What if the bacteria monsters or other entities are made from animals that got warped and twisted seeking others in a sort of animalistic instincts to hunt?

"we've always been here" That picture shown is much much older than what we saw on the archive.tar.. its black and white and looks like 1950-1960 tech. So lets add it up Daisy Bell = 1961 song added to a computer to sing. (IBM) Photo = looks super old and not color or late 1970 or mid to late 1980 tech numbers at the bottom = needs to be deciphered. so this tells us that there was already an expedition in the backrooms and it failed with those researchers trapped inside. he is probably the one or entity sending the backwards messages in the videos giving warnings. In short, events are repeating themselves. Figuratively and quite literally.

While I think the metaphor of "a manor overlooking the sea" could apply to Async, I would like to propose the idea that this narrator had nothing to do with them. The photo at the end is grainy, devoid of color, and depicts machinery much older than the kind Async uses. I worked in a computer museum for a long time, and, while I can't pinpoint the exact era the machines in the photo were made, they appear like older, more primitive models of old magnetic tape computers built in the 70's, which we happened to have a lot of. Possibly placing them even earlier than that. Which might imply another research institute found their way into the Complex before Async, but they were ultimately forgotten after some kind of tragedy--and/or the whole thing was covered up. This narrator might be someone who's been in the Complex for decades, if my theory is right.

As a slight addendum, I would also like to posit that the voice at the end seems to be saying: "We've/We have always been here." The first word has a long e sound, and the rest kind of follows suit. Though I suppose people will debate about that last line forever, haha.

Also look at the missing person video. It claims someone named Margaret drove a 1967 Ford. Which would make nore sense if the company from the 70s caused accidents.

I take it that we are reaching the point where the backroom's no-clip areas are engulfing the world at a dramatic rate. I don't know if the sea references (or could even be mistaken for) the no-clip zones, but given that a manor could be sinking into the backrooms, the backrooms is becoming much easier to fall into. I wonder what will happen from there.

I mean, MatPat has theorized before that electromagnetism causes subjects to noclip through. He made a whole video of it, but one big piece of evidence is that everybody who we saw noclip into the Backrooms had some electrical equipment of some kind on them (i.e. the first Found Footage guy had a high-tech camera, the girl from the second Found Footage had a whole garage of electromagnetic items, an unlisted video showed a driver noclipping with their entire car, etc). This explains why no animals have no-clipped into the Backrooms, because few non-human creatures would have any reason to touch man-made electric objects like cameras, phones or cars. I will also point out that we have _NEVER_ seen more than one person no-clip into the Backrooms at once; the only time we ever see more than one person enter the Backrooms at the same time and place is when Async employees use the portal, but that's obviously not the same as no-clipping like with the Found Footage protagonists (who both no-clipped alone and by themselves even though the first Found Footage guy was surrounded by other people in the same spot). I don't think bigger areas of the world are no-clipping, per se, but I would agree that the rate at which individual people are no-clipping is increasing. It's going to get harder and harder for Async to escape attention and repercussions for their Backrooms experiments if more and more people go missing as a result of their screw-ups, so things are definitely going to get a bit dicey for everyone.

I still hold strong that your vision of the backrooms has been the most interesting and exciting so far. I appreciate this less is more approach. As much as I want to learn about Async and the universe surrounding this story, I often feel better off left guessing. I really appreciate your vision and look forward to more insights into this fascinating world. I often wonder what things would have looked like if Async was successful, What life would be like.

"A manor, overlooking the sea." & "But when skies turned dark, the house was taken by the sea.", could be something that is referenced back in the first found footage video, the writing on the wall shows a window overlooking what resembles water and the sun heading west then soon comes the moon and skies turning dark, the voice could be the person who either made all the writing on the wall or was someone there before the first found footage, but that's just my theory on this.
