I Removed Ads From My Website - Here's what happened...

I removed ads from one of my websites to see what will happen, and if my site will recover from recent Google updates.. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, which you can see from the video.

People are moving away from Google to other search engines slowly but surely. I ran some scientific tests on quality of results and Google is unbelievably weak. There have been multiple search queries where the correct output to the query is in top 3 on bing and not even in top 50 on Google. Instead of the expected query results on Google you oftenly get random unrelated giant corporations and also unrelated reddit threads. This is without taking ads into consideration. When factoring in ads Google is practically unusable in 2024.

ADS SUCK - I can't tell you how many times I have exited FAST out of a website with too many ads! One popup is OK but 3??? On an iPhone 12 Pro Max too! I have this phone for the screen real estate not for it to be filled with 3 pop-up ads, haha... A lot of these OLD BLOGGERS that started blogs years ago JUST for the Google Adsense - a lot of them have not evolved! Sad to say if they don't quickly figure it out their website is going to be non-existant because folks like me exit FAST out of their site and go find someone else to get the information I need. Sure a lot of them are making money from other sources like digital products, courses through email marketing but still...they need to remove all these ads and get out of these "ad management" companies that force them to put these ads all over the place. Just fire them, do only 1 popup per page and continue pushing other products to make money.

Well, I'm not against ads if there isn't too many. And like I said in the video, seems like people are already used to ads and they don't have anything against them (at least according to avg. time spent on the page now vs. when I had ads enabled).

Did you also try removing all the affiliate links and leave adsense? Do you think google penalize only affiliate sites and not the sites with adsense only?

I didn't try to do that, but I edited how my AAWP plugin works so I reduced amount of affiliate links by 60-70%. In the past, AAWP would have like 3-4 affiliate links per one product box, and now I reduced it to 1 affiliate link only. I think google penalizes all sites that aren't large media companies or e-commerce sites, unfortunately.
