I rented a P2 from Hertz at Heathrow in January 2023 when I needed to go up to Scotland. I had booked it in December '22. When I went to collect it, it had only 6 miles on the clock and had been registered just 3 days earlier. So purely delivery milage and I was the first to drive it. The rental and charging worked out cheaper than filling my own Volvo V70 with petrol however many times as would have been necessary.

I’ve the ‘23 LRDM, it’s not for everyone; I consider it a personal car, not a family hauler. I like how it drives (Chassis, suspension, shocks calibration) and plenty of power. Fit and finish is excellent and feels premium in a Swedish way, and it has been very reliable and efficient. My biggest issue is the center console; it’s bulky, intrusive, and wasteful space use. I’m a car enthusiast and that influenced my decision to buy.

I tested one two different times now. Overall it's a really nice EV, but with some serious interior design problems. The center console needs a complete redesign, as you hitting your knee shows. It's a complete mess and waste of space, as the cupholder in the armrest shows. Horrible visibility out of the rear window and poor rear leg space, with the battery tunnel intruding through the entire cabin. Having said that, the performance of the AWD and the very well integrated infotainment system is a big hit. I'm only 5'5" and it's not the car for me. I ended up with a Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD instead.

The cupholder situation in any car is very important to me, and was actually one of the main reasons I didn't buy the Polestar 2. Glad you pointed it out. Terrible design, would make daily driving annoying. When I cancelled my Polestar 2 order they asked me why and I told them the 2 main factors were their service model and cupholder design. I also do not understand why they still have not implemented wireless CarPlay or a 360 camera view when they have the space on the screen and the cameras to do so. It was more ticks in the "con" column for me on that vehicle compared to competitors.

@@BrandonRyan Different things are important to different people. Happy it works for you. We rented one for a road trip to test out the car and it was exactly as bad as we thought for us...losing my armrest to get a second cupholder was very annoying and the 360 camera didn't come up automatically split screen with the backup camera, which is a feature I use all the time, and even my Bolt had it. Those were, and still are, deal breakers for us. I just sat in a Polestar 3 and they fixed the cupholder issue so clearly they were getting feedback from customers, but wasn't able to test the 360 cam functionality so TBD on if it'll make the short list for our next car.

I *really* love the looks of the Polestar 3, once again via KZbin videos, but it's a considerable jump up in money starting at $83,900. The CCS charging network in my Texas area is really poor, so I'm not sure I'd spend that kind of money to just have the frustrations. Alternatively I'm not a huge fan of Tesla styling (or Musk himself, but I've accepted that Tesla is more than just one man), and lack of features (HUD, Massaging Seats, etc), but the charging network is in a much stronger position in my area. Hi Dave, great video, in the future please do us a favor, unlike most of us you have and assumedly will continue to test drive many of the new EVs, if you agree it's a good idea please add some comparative assessments, for example, it seems like your model 3 video with you and your wife you were both more comfortable in the model 3 which is valuable insight because from the outside the Polestar appears to be a larger vehicle than the model 3 so someone like me who has never been in either vehicle would have never known how cramped the Polestar felt comparatively. Another example is you had the model S as well, I never got the impression your head hit the roof or your legs were cramped and that is something you would actually expect in the model S.

I've been in UX and design for 25 years. Whoever designed the cupholder, armrest really has no idea what they are doing. This does not bode well for the rest of the interior which is designed very poorly overall. Even the cheapest cars in the market have better cupholders and UX. I've rented from Turo several times. Mostly good experiences with one very bad experience. The best advice I can give is to read each leasor and car's fine print and check how much mileage is included in the rental price. Some shifty leasors appear to have great deals and deliberately include inadequate mileage and charge outrage surcharges for milage overages. Unless the app has changed since I last used it, this can be difficult to understand in the rental summary. I rented for five days, and what I thought was my allotted miles per day (as every other number on that screen was per day) was for the full five day period. Needless to say I went way over and it would've been much cheaper to rent from Enterprise. Every other time I used Turo it was great, though.

Center consoles have gotten too big. My RAV4 Prime likewise has too big of a console. Most of the controls that have migrated to consoles over the years could easily migrate back to the dash or steering column as on Teslas. The makers also have moved HVAC components, etc. into the interiors of consoles (the front end at least) which requires consoles to grow. If I have to give up the middle front seat that sedans used to have for a console, I at least want the console space to be all mine, for storage, drinks, etc. rather than transmisson controls, other extraneous knobs, and who-knows-what underneath the console. Most of the space inside Tesla 3/Y consoles is accessible space for storage, even if they're somewhat plain looking.

Why couldn't Polestar put vertical infotainment screens nicely embedded into the dashboard like so many other BEV makers, and why couldn't they retain more physical buttons/dials for climate and audio controls? Then you get to the slow-charging architecture and poor range. Such a great start, but such a bad finish to this car. Tall people reviewing cars they can’t fit in. Always the same.

I hate this car. Too uncomfortable. My right knee is raw from rubbing on the middle console. Very poor interior design. Terrible charging options for my cellphone. Cup holder placement is ridiculous. Seats are uncomfortable, especially if you’re driving hours at a time. Stick with a Model 3, don’t waste your time on this POS.

Too much yapping about nothing. 6 minutes in and we have not even sat in the damn car. Just yapping about nothing. For that reason.....IM OUT.

I work for Hertz at a major airport car rental center, and our main EV service guy is a midget 😂
