Why is everyone so fascinated about those bloody Dutch gun variant. This is where the Samurai culture started dying. All the bushi traditions regarding combat were westernised that way
@robwilkes335123 күн бұрын
@Saltkoenigin Actually, the Japanese were introduced to them by the Portugese in 1543. As much as YOU'D prefer that Japan was still full of samurai and geisha, history moves forward and cultures modernize. They are part of history and to detest them because "this is where samurai culture started dying" is down right childish. Hell, one could argue that since the concrete concept of "bushido" wasn't developed until the 1500's tanegashima were PART of that culture and not the downfall of it.
@Saltkoenigin23 күн бұрын
@robwilkes3351 it seems u didn't understand what I mean by the "samurai culture dying" I'm talking about all the traditions which were in fighting that were present since the Nara Period. Which became useless as they simply pulverised them down. Ofc I know that there a new age for the samurai began. It seems u aren't informed enough to understand what I meant. And regarding bushido it's just a finalised concept of the Dae unwritten rules the bushi were following since Nara Period or even Atskua period times. Please inform urself before accusate myself without real proof
@robwilkes335123 күн бұрын
@Saltkoenigin You still sound like a weeb whining over how guns killed the samurai. "WAA... some Portugese traders 500 years ago gave the Japanese firearms and I'M MAD". A hyperfixation on Japanese history doesn't mean you're RIGHT in your opinion about tanegashima is correct. If you'd have said that YOU don't like them for X, Y, Z everything would be fine. What you said, however, seemed to indicate that NOBODY should like them for the same reason you don't. That indicates that you've got a fan boy level of obbsession.

Its always such a shame seeing smaller towns get abandoned and it fascinates me that in Japan rural towns suffer due to younger people moving to the cities. Where I live in the states it feels like the opposite, over here everyone seems to wants to be in rural places cause the prices are so much better. I really hope everyones efforts helps out small towns in Japan, the rural part of Japan is so beautiful!
@ryana5435Ай бұрын
American city planning is very different from japan’s. Japan is not a country on wheels that thought 3 to 6 hours total commute between home in rural area and workplace in city is normal
@RenigaderzАй бұрын

This was such a fun video to watch. I loved the castle and the historical/ceremonial stuff, but I also just liked seeing the rural town. It was cool to set a video in Shikoku as well, as I feel that's the area of Japan I've seen the least of in all these videos.

Woooo. Feature length CDawg VA and AbroadinJapan travel video? Yes, please! Wonderful video. That looked like a dream come true. Even if it was only 2 days, it seems like this was absolutely worth it. Especially because it's helping the people of such a wonderful little town.

This was sooo worth the wait!! It was less like something out of Camelot (as a northerner, I’m sure you remember the theme park!) and more a full on travel documentary. Amazing! Can’t wait to see how lord affable is going to top this! Looking forward to the bonus footage on Patreon!

Around 42:15 minutes in I just got depressed. I'm watching this on my lunch at work in a little tiny shop with no backroom or space to eat lunch. Getting to work at 7/8am and then getting home from work at 9pm 5/6 days a week... I hope one day this will be me and my partner... Just sitting in a little shop in a mall with no natural light most of my days where we could be in Japan watching such a beautiful view and scenery... That's the dream. It doesn't even have to be the castle, just being able to see the outside and nature

This video is extremely nice to watch. The long format is fantastic, and I would welcome more long videos like this. Another factor was Chris, he wasn’t doing his typical “character” that he plays. He was being more genuine and more like his off camera self. I hope he does this more often because it was very refreshing.

This was incredible. It had a great mix of educational content, comedy, and beautiful scenic shots. And most importantly it highlighted a part of japan that people seldom visit, but is what people typically think of when wanting to travel to japan. It's often difficult to design a trip to these places so knowing what can be seen or experienced in these areas ahead of time helps a ton.
