I Repaired Major Damage on my Paraglider Wing, I'm Back!

Join me on these adventures! About 4 months ago as I attempted to launch my #paramotor and take to the skies, things took an unexpected turn! During the initial launch, I noticed that my wing was swinging quickly to one side but I overcorrected, making the situation quite sketchy. Trying to think fast, I decided to abort the launch.
Tragically, the wing came crashing down on top of me, getting entangled in the paramotor's propeller, resulting in massive damage to the wing and a set of B lines.
Stay tuned to this video to witness the challenges and perils that come with paramotoring and hopefully learn from my experiences. I didn't mention it in this video but I did have years of experience in sewing and creating patterns with different types of fabrics for clothing but never worked with rip stop fabric in this manner. It was definitely a learning experience and I found it really difficult to find the material I needed for this kind of repair. I wouldn't recommend it if you have no experience sewing at all but if you're interested in seeing the techniques I use let me know in the comments of this video and maybe I'll record myself stitching for a vid clip on here to get an idea of what I did but i wont know best until I actually learn from people more experienced.
Huge shout out for Eric helping me out and trusting my word that I had prior skills to handle this repair. I did the best I can do and so far everything has been working great, though I keep an eye out before and after each flight to make sure nothing is coming loose. and of course, taking full responsibility for my repairs. honestly i feel safer in the air knowing what i did and double/tripple checked. I did try other repair centers and people but they wouldn't have been able to have the wing back to me until winter time again from what i was being told. I couldn't believe it was this hard to get repairs done in the US for an affordable cost or to at least get the info needed about the fabric and what's all needed to do a repair like this. I do understand the liabilities but for those skilled, there should at least be more info out there. I learned a ton but not sure how much of it I should even share. I do plan on taking proper classes to learn more this upcoming season when they are active again. I did speak with some really nice people willing to help me.
I plan on getting another wing soon and then a reserve. This wing will prob become more of a practice and 'messing around' wing once I do. If you decide to do a repair like this please at least take it to someone more skilled first for a second opinion and take the wing out for a few days during some hard wind / no engine after repairs to see how it all reacts. I didn't just sew it and fly it (though i kinda wanted to after all that waiting!!!).

Great job on the repair and all the decision-making processes around testing / first flight after. 👍 So hard to resist when the weather's good for it and you just want to get in the air. Depending on the model you choose, you'll probably find that your next wing won't overfly you as easily (reflex wings are more pitch-stable) and may also be easier to bring up / get overhead. The skills and muscle memory you develop with this wing will still be relevant, though, so it's great to keep as a ground handling / spare wing. Rock on! And Bird Up!

thanks for that insight. As I feel more comfortable on takeoffs and landings again I'll see if anyone close by will let me borrow theirs to feel out the difference. I have flown parachutes but thats a different monster haha.

Nice, looks like you did a good job with the repair. I did my training with an Ozone Power 2 and in nil and low wind, it can be a beast to get above your head. My Spyder 3 is much easier to launch in nil wind. I'm very happy I went to the Spyder 3. Everyone at Aviator PPG is awesome, especially Eric. Did my training there.

I have a mojo pwr2 and i find it easy to get up without any wind, maybe it goes up slower than the spyder because it is a reflex wing but the mojo when inflates is very smooth and stable.

hi. im thinking about buying a MOJO PWR2 is it a good wing ? i know tucker gott test the wings. but since he sells ozone wings, maybe he is a bit biased....
