The Staff Model is hard to beat from a looks, sound and feel perspective. And the more predictable ball flight has to be a winner. You should try bending it to 15 degrees Al. Best of both worlds.

I play the same 2 iron and honestly hitting the back of it swinging left handed, performs and even more so feels way better. The face feels junk. I play the staff CB Wilson irons too, they're amazing ..the two iron isnt

I loved how you framed your "Intriguing" segment with trees. Intreeging.
@boydgrandy5769 Жыл бұрын
If the advantage of the Wilson is the head and shaft setup, which makes it easier to get the desired and predictable results you want, then you can always tweak it to bend a little loft out of it and get back most of the yardage you lose from going to 18 degrees from (hack, cough...) 13 degrees, and still keep the high launch and forgiveness lacking in the Mizuno unguided missile launcher. My 5 wood is 18 degrees, fer jebus' sake. My driver is adjustable to 13 degrees. Your old utility iron is within range of my driver... We don't play the same game, do we?
@pltyes21 Жыл бұрын
I play the wilson in 18 degrees and a stiff kbs shaft. My wife got it for me for christmas and i absolutely love it off the tee. Beautiful club👍
@Hola4aMarshl Жыл бұрын
The Wilson utility irons are absolute cheat sticks! Have the 18, 21 & 24. So easy to hit, great KBS stock shaft & super long - get 250 yards roll out with tbe 24 degree/4 iron!
@craigsummerville8823 Жыл бұрын
What I like about my Cobra King Utility is that it’s adjustable from 18-21 degrees. It has the UST Mamiya SMACWrap Recoil ES 780 F4 Stiff shaft and is very comfortable to hit. As my game has evolved I’ve been able to change the angle to keep it in my bag. They are fairly easy to find used and aren’t expensive.
@brianhenry5758 Жыл бұрын
I’ll through this in there. I bought a d9 forged 3 iron as a driving iron to go along with my staff cbs. It’s 19 degrees stock and since a single club is a custom purchase from Wilson you can bend it and pick shafts. Oh ya it was $150. Hard to beat.
@oliver69cork46 Жыл бұрын
Have the wilson staff utility 15 degree-low stingers with roll out,250 yards. The 18 and 21 degree models too,more height and love them,no driver or hybrids used.

Wondering how you would get on with a 2 hybrid? Shaft choice could turn it into a mad bomber. Penetrating ball flight and decent roll out? 100g shaft maybe. Recall the boys at TXG testing one.

I used to nail my 3 wood shots but I just took it out and now have a 4ish wood. Next club is then a Heavenwood so 7ish so it all works out. Got an Apex Hybrid after that which hits like a dream (that I paid too much for given the condition).

I know the feeling i use an old mizuno tp19 bladed 1 iron as my fairway finder ive used a 1 iron since i was a junior but like you its very risk reward its a true butter knife but when hit it goes like its been shot out of a desert eagle ,arrow straight awesome ball flight im convinced it has a vapour trail behind it it goes that fast 😂 but by heck if im just a tad off it bites me in the nutsack pretty quick.

I’ve had a Staff Model Utility 2 iron in my bag for almost 2 years now and it’s my go to club, outperforms every new 2023 utility too. Just too darn good.

Hmm. I have a 2 and 3 driving iron and honestly I prefer the stability of my 3 wood. I’m not consistent with the driving irons. When hit it pure it’s an awesome feeling… like pretzels and mustard. However, 30% of the time it’s off and doesn’t appeal… like pretzels and mayonnaise. 🤮 At least my 3 wood gets me in the fairways… like pretzels and vanilla ice cream. 😊😂

Uhmmm 7:57 loft makes a massive difference. Need HMB in same loft

As far as your current dilemma… that butter knife is just that. One trick pony that likes to bite and kick. The Staff on the other hand gets you in play, more often, with an achievable approach shot. Risk vs reward… I’ll take reward 99% of the time. The one shot I absolutely hate and try to avoid is the 60 yard approach from the trees with Brenda watching. I’d rather have the 100 yard gimme from the center.
@mikewilliams1479 Жыл бұрын

So I would say the comparison is not a good one. If you wanted direct comparison, you would use Mizuno 2 iron (std loft) and WS 2 iron. Your Mizuno was built for something different than a standard 2.
