What is holding back the AW is battery tech and carrier limitations or bugs which may or may not be on purpose from Apple to keep people from ditching their phones, however I would not say it's not ideal. Battery consumption is a problem even across bigger devices that (for now) is generally overcome by being more mindful of daily usage. With proper implementation a watch could easily replace a phone, outside of taking photos. It would definitely keep me from mindlessly scrolling on socials and you don't even need to worry about carrying/losing it. This device can adapt to you, rather than you having to be extremely aware of how your phone fits in every equation.

This review works some what, portion of Mustache travel is in subway, meaning Ultra is draining faster than usual when Both Cellular and GPS is actively getting signals+location. Noticed his Wi-Fi on Cellular is also ON, that is draining battery. 4 of my buddies from Military Services, used our Ultra entire day here in SF Bay Areas, drives everywhere. Sucks that Apple Watch can’t CarPlay hahaha. Our battery life full charge from 5 am to 10 pm, still got 15-19% life. (We don’t use Ultra for sleep)

@@TimTheMusicMan Well thats the same for any apple watch lol and its very straight forward since the setup walks you through exactly what you need to do. This is a really interesting question because so much of our days gets wasted with doing pointless things on our phone whereas the watch doesn’t give you those distractions and time wasting activities. I am very much intrigued by the idea of leaving the phone in the drawer in the morning, and having an active lifestyle with the watch as my wallet and navigator and fitness pal. Great review! I've been doing phoneless days with my Series 5 cellular for a few years, and the battery life was the main concern as I would get about 75% of a day's usage with it. The Ultra is everything I could ask for and more, so far the battery has been excellent as most people don't live as active of a lifestyle as you do in NYC. For the average person who wants to ditch their phone and the distractions that come with it, the Apple Watch Ultra is all you need!

Awesome battery life. Actually it is very similar to my Galaxy Watch 4 LTE in which I leave home at 9am with 100% battery life, and around 16pm I am near to 20% battery life. The only thing that distinguishs my watch to yours is the fact that I do not use mine. I mean, no maps, and... no training apps, and... no calls, and... no messages, and... really nothing. If you want one of these you just have to keep it on iddle the whole day. Think with me... it is the same experience as Apple gives you, you do have a smartwatch LTE in your wrist, a big watch if you want, lots of style, you can see the time (thats not bad) and it has an iluminated screen too... And the best part is... if you do want to reach the lunch time (12pm) without battery, you could make 1 or 2 calls during the morning with LTE, but if you exceed like 5 minutes in call, the watch will turn off for cooling and will enter in flight mode. Its really awesome, please dont consider getting one! 😁 Nice review, thanks man.

Been saying this for a couple years now, we need an Apple Watch + iPad ONLY combo. Been wishing I could ditch my iPhone! Really don't need it and I've been leaving my house without it.

I just replaced my garmin 935 with the ultra and am loving it. Love the idea of not going out with my phone, but at the end of the day if you are taking a backpack with you it would be silly not to just put your phone in it anyway. But if I’m popping out somewhere it’s nice to know you don’t need your phone. Also on a night out don’t have to have your big iPhone taking up space in your pockets

True, and also the main target of iPhones are people who like to post pictures, even adventure seekers do that and are substituting go pros with iPhones ( some) , that is why the only real update on iphone these days is camera capabilities…as for going out without the phone, a series 8 will do just fine So until the watch can take high quality imagery…phone needs to stay on hand

Great video. Apple is dead set against the Watch being a stand alone device! You still need an iPhone. I’ve seen two smaller channels “hellagood” and “get it done” who got around 60 hrs. I guess The Watch will remain an iPhone “accessory” another year.

Agree, Sharon. The 60 hours is without cellular...that cellular is obviously a hugemongous battery drain. 🪫

@@Burps___ YES! I have a 6 gps only, with amazing capabilities. The Ultra is still great to actually go 60 hrs quietly sipping the phone’s cellular when needed. I bought the 3 with cellular and never used it or actually went anywhere without my phone🤷♀️

This is heeeaavvyyyy use lol he literally used the darn thing for everything. In a big city with this kind of heavy usage, this is plenty of time to get through a day and then quickly recharge in 1.5 hr when necessary. I don’t understand the big deal with folks and battery life. I’d use it alllll day and then at night or at lunch I’d plug in for an hour or so and bam we are back to 100%. Idk when and why someone would need this thing without a charge longer than like 16/17 hours unless of course you’re on some big 2 day hike in the middle of nowhere. And if you’re in that scenario you’re damn sure not constantly making calls, making purchases, text messaging, using google maps etc… 😂all those things will drain the battery.

@@andydrew3320 exactly this. People seem to be disapointed with batterty life of the Ultra in this review but they forget that even 30min on a charger would give you enough juice to easy make it through out the day. Also how many times you have to charge your 1-2 year old iphone. I bet it is also once a day. What is disapointing and this video confirms it is siri being slow on the watch. I can relate to this. I hope siri can at least here me better on Ultra (not having it yet) with these 3 mics on board. I love road cycling where you can easy go 40km/h., would be interesting if in these conditions chat over the watch would still be possible. You know wind can be very noisy.

As someone who is mostly an advocate for Android products, the Apple Watch Ultra is definitely, by far, the best smartwatch on the market. I've had the Galaxy Watch series for a while now and it just doesn't even compare in terms of software to what Apple is doing with their watches. Sure, I still have no interest in getting into the Apple ecosystem, but wow is this an amazing product. Just makes me upset every other option is so far behind. Also, great video!

Great video as always, Shervin. Really disappointed that the Ultra seemed to perform so poorly battery wise. I have the original watch SE cellular and this usually can get me to around 5pmish if using it exclusively throughout the day (to minimise screen on time). Admittedly I don’t work out anywhere near the levels that you do buddy lol. Look forward to your next video 😊
