More so just a joke. There definitely were elite hitters. Some pitchers do have inflated numbers since they would pitch a STUPID amount of innings a season. But really, there were some very good ball players back then

Sports were just different back then but I can agree with people when it comes skill wise that this era and future eras players are getting more skilled
