In this video I take a break from machining to do way too much sanding. But I also learn to anodize titanium and use my new heat treat oven. I bought this BRS Alpha Beast to help me with my baliscissors project. It was a bit beat up so I thought I'd use it to improve my finishing skills.

It honestly doesn’t seem that hard. The anodizing part seems really fun, and the idea of sanding something to a mirror finish seems rewarding. Man I really wanna try anodizing.

I didn't see any other comments mentioning this, but my preferred way to deal with sanding is to get a few thick glass plates, or granite counter top offcuts and use spray adhesive to mount the wet sanding paper to these. These substrates are generally really flat, and the adhesive makes it so the paper doesn't bunch or move around which also helps the paper last much longer. I also have a lunch tray that I lay them into on rubber feet, so the filings and water don't soil my workbench and helps with cleanup.

One of the key things that separates craftsman from master artisans and engineers is knowing when to stop. LS Starrett had a well known ideology. Something needs to be exactly as precision as required. No more, no less. Important to know when the job is done. Knowing when to walk away is important. You did a wonderful job and have a lot of skill! And you should be proud.

If you take out the pivot you could push the handle slabs in opposite directions to create tension on the lower body pivots to make the screws easy to take out. Beautiful work by the way!

you could easily put a relay with an Arduino serving as a timer in the anodizing circuit to get really consistent timing for your anodizing.
