I’ve only used it once, followed the instructions on the paperwork it came with. I live in the USA, I don’t know if they have different info but it doesn’t say to fold first then microwave. Mine didn’t crimp, we tried several times. Then we used some water around the edges like it suggested and it helped but not great. We were using ham and cheese as a filling nothing really huge… I don’t like it so far it’s not worth it but I will use your tip of folding it over to see if that helps and I’ll cook it in the oven without air fryer mode to see if that works better too. I love the idea of it so I hope it helps. Thanks for the tip. 😊

I think maybe the instructions are different then, or they’ve possibly changed over time. It really does help if you fold before you crimp. it also means you can get even more filling in! Since I started doing this, it hasn’t failed and yes, I have much better results using the oven over the air fryer. I hope it works for you. Keep me posted and thanks for supporting my channel. 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

Pro Tip - Crimpit actually say fold the wrap over first, so you can get a near perfect fold without the big excess wrap bits we can see when you folded over the Crimpit with the wrap in. Saves chewing plain wrap or having to trim and waste..also has the benefit of maximising the wrap volume so you can get more filling in! Great review, I love my Crimpit. Such a simple piece of kit for a simple man like me 🤣

Hey buddy, thanks for stopping by and saying hello! Funnily enough, I’ve actually worked that out since publishing this video. If you watch some of my recent short form crimpit content, you’ll see that I fold the wrap, then the crimpit! You get a better seal and like you say, you can add loads more filling 😆. I love my crimpit, too! Have a great weekend 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

@@RichieTheFoodie always happy to touch base with my foodie buddy! I actually ordered the whole megillah--I think I'm going to have fun! Have you made Gordon Ramsey's scrambled eggs? The technique is on KZbin (although I have to say that yours looked good).

@@HotVoodooWitch I’m glad you have, it’s lovely to hear from you. Wow! You’ve ordered. How much is it in the states? My method of cooking scrambled eggs is Ramsay inspired. Cooked in butter, stir like a risotto, on and off the heat and absolutely no salt until the end. I’ll be eager to know how you get on with yours 😀

@@RichieTheFoodie I kinda doubt the recipe books are the same but if you order direct from Crimpit, they're $8 apiece. The larger Crimpit is $25 and the smaller one is $15 (more expensive than what you paid). It looks like only the larger one is available on Amazon and it's $5 more expensive than ordering direct. We also have the free shipping perk if you order more than one item. I even bought the Crimpit Cradle because I have a restored vintage toaster that I'd like to keep pristine as long as possible. This is going to be fun and I'll definitely keep you posted! Incidentally, your eggs put me in mind of GR's, which is why I asked--good job!

@@HotVoodooWitch I’d have thought they are very similar to the U.K. recipe book. And yes, it looks like you paid similar, maybe a little less for the large crimpit. I’d normally post an Amazon affiliate link when I review a product, on this occasion I didn’t as here I the U.K., Amazon are charging double the price so that’s why I’ve directed viewers to the official website. Really looking forward to the updates 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

Well I tried it exactly like you did and it didn't seal :( I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I made a video but it won't let me post it here. I ended up using water around the edges after microwaving it and that did help but it still didn't Seal all the way.. It's a let down.

Hi Sylvia. I’m sorry to learn that, but glad I’ve inspired you to give it another go, it’s really worth it. What filling are you going to try? I really do recommend the oven over an air fryer, the fan power of an air fryer can pull apart the seal. And you’re very welcome, thanks ever so much for supporting my channel. 🏴 (Love Wales) 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

Be sure to moisten the edges with some water 💧 when you remove it from the microwave.......it helps to seal the crimp much better.

My tip is, fold your wrap over first and get it lined up. Once happy, then fold your crimpit over. I also find that oven baking works better than the air fryer. I hope this helps 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

Why bother? Here is the way we do it in Texas: Prepare your eggs, bacon, cheese, salsa, etc. (huevos rancheros) the way you like it then place on top of a tortilla on a plate & dig in. Knife & fork recommend.
