What a joy the Isle of Skye is. So many wonderful views. How cruel was that to have a burger van at the end of your walk for them to have run out of veggie burgers when you got to it. You did well Charlie to stay calm. I think we are all disappointed you didn't catch on film the moment Lauren slipped on her arse. That girl of yours Charlie is very accident prone, even in the middle of nowhere. How lovely of your friends to treat you all to a meal at the hotel with the wonderful views. Nice if the two of you could have a nice romantic stay there in the future for a few days. Perhaps in the winter, nice open log fire, lovely meals, and brisk walks. Nice place to stay for your next anniversary. Graham
@CharliePauly3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, what an underrated place. We'd never really heard/thought of Skye before heading to Scotland! The burger van was torture (more than I let on) and noone wishes they caught Lauren slipping on camera more than me haha! Absolutely, we said exactly the same. Wish we had a bit more time to enjoy it but you know us GO GO GO!!

I hope Erin sees this - but girl you're an angel!!! So nice to know people like her are out there in the world!❤️ Really enjoyed this as I did so much of this back in 2020, nice trip down memory lane! £8 for parking at the Fairy Pools in 2021?! It it was £5 last year - what kind of inflation is that?! Was cool to see the Old Man of Storr trail as last year when I did it, the hillside was strewn with bags full of the boulders and that staircase was definitely not there. Obviously what the bags were for!

This brought back memories of a happy week on Sky back in 2014. I was prompted to look through a few hundred photos taken at the time. The scenery is stunning. You must go inland if you can, where the scenery is equally impressive. On one of our Scotland trips when we were younger, we sought out the narrowest roads, camping or sleeping under bridges. Waking up to the sound of a trickling stream and seeing mountains in the distance is an unforgettable experience.

Glad you enjoyed your trip to the glorious Isle of Skye. However, you need to be aware that tourists like you actually cause huge problems for the locals. People turn up in camper vans and park all over the place in laybys and other spots in order to avoid paying a few quid for a regular site. Obviously these 'free ' places have zero facilities so I shouldn't have to spell out for you what they leave behind. Add to this thar they invariably bring virtually all their food and drink with them, thereby contributing little or nothing to the Local economy. I would respectfully ask you to honestly calculate how much money you actually spent when on Skye or any of the other NC 500 places you visited and ask yourselves if it was fair, given the low earnings and short seasonal work acau
@nancybennett49723 жыл бұрын
....and short seasonal work available to the locals. They are proud of their homelands and glad that others appreciate it too - but they have to live

I did the old man up and down in 1 hour 5 minutes and the quirraing in 2 hours 35 minutes, along the bottom and back over the top back to the car park. The reason I did the qurraing so fast, is that my wife stayed with our van and like you i parked in the badly signposted coach area. She phoned me up because she was told whilst sitting in the van that other people had been given a ticket and she relayed the info to me in turn. Needless to say I walked like I was in the Olympics to get around and back to move the van before I got a ticket as well. Fortunately on the drive back down after we had left the car park, the twats were on their way up to fine as many people as they could find again but not me. In my opinion there is a racket going on. The parking rules signs are purposely made small to catch as many people and make as much money as possible. Whilst at the car park my wife warned everybody she saw to move from the coach area to not get a ticket either.
@CharliePauly3 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree with you on this one. Doesn't seem like very 'fair' signage around the area, glad you managed to dodge the ticket and good on your wife!
