Hi Andy! It's been great to meet you two on your way through the other day. I'm glad to find out you got there!! And happy to hear you've liked our place and thank you for mentioning us. Hopefully we'll attract more of your kind :) We'll be working on putting in a little bike charging area once our new wash house is finished to make things easier. Really great what you did there. Please come back one day! Have a lovely summer full of more fun adventures! All the best Steffi @thesecretcampsite

Great video as always Andy! I did an e bike trip last summer in Devon with a mate and a borrowed bike. To be perfectly honest I hated it. You're watching the battery level draining the whole time. Your whole day has to be planned around where and when you can recharge your bike. It just seems to be a lot of hassle compared to a regular bike which will never run out of power as long as you keep stopping at those sausage and bacon food vans to refuel!

@@SB-hr5yrI guess that depends on the bike, my hubbies electric bike battery is so heavy. I wouldn’t want to be lugging it around on top of all the other stuff you need to carry too.

My dear Sir, this is a stunning video. The fact that you are travelling around Kent, rather than the Himalayas or Kalahari is just so refreshing and interesting. I can't thank you enough for such a refreshing and entertaining contribution. The fact that you had stopped at a snack van within the first four miles, is British beyond parody 🤣

I bought a Jansno X50 because I was not sure about going to an ebike. It now has a trailer, led wheel lights, olites all over and with a spare battery fully charged, my 50 watt 1.8 ah solar panel on top of the trailer gives me another 20-30 miles depending on terrain on a full sun day

Phew what a trip. I have owned various e-bikes over the years and safe to say all the cheap models are not good for longer trips without a spare battery. They are usually just too hard to pedal off power and too heavy. The bigger the bike the heavier so more drain on the battery plus gear and uphills… Well done guys, beautiful countryside.

It took me a while, but I toasted a Pop Tart by dropping my Trangia inside my cup, placing the pot stand on top and of course the Pop Tart on it. My camp mate tried that inverted and used the bottom of the cup as a surface. I don't know if that worked though. I may have to give it a go.

Love the music, very Firefly. We lucked out camping last weekend in Essex, we caught the tail of that mad storm. Rhinowalk is such a good brand I went ortlieb for my main panniers and everything else is rhino walk they do a mini yellow pannier style bar bag which is hilarious. Rockbros also do a good phone mount that's a bit more solid than the one you're using, like a vice with orange silicone grips. Paint some ACF-50 onto those terminals to help avoid corrosion.

A very enjoyable watch. Sadly you were on a hiding to nothing using a Hemiway Cruiser, and what looked to be an Eleglide M1 Plus. Fair play to you for doing it, and it was only the choice of bikes that lead to the issue of failing some of the climbs. I cover an average of 3,500 miles a year riding various models of eMTB's on the South Downs, and for every 10 miles covered, the average elevation gain is 1,200ft. The Hemiway weighs in at 32kg unladen and its gearing is awful for a supposed off road bike. The 14-28 rear freewheel and 46t front chain wheel, are far from ideal. At the sacrifice of speed, the front chain wheel can be swapped out for a 42t, and the freewheel for a 14-34. Getting the freewheel off though is nearly impossible as there isn't a satisfactory freewheel removal tool for the job, because the motor cable doesn't give enough clearance. The 42t chain ring would if required bolt onto the standard set up, so creating a manual change over. Obviously a front derailleur would be a better option though. In respect of the Eleglide, it is potentially a better option, as it has a significantly wider and better range of gearing. The downside of the bike though is its lack of torque, and power delivery settings. Sadly It also has a significantly smaller battery, although replacement spare batteries are incredible value for money, as is the bike, which is exceptional value for money. Edit.. I really felt for you both when I saw you crossing the bridge at South Ease, as that climb after it is a very long and tough one. Once again, well done to the pair of you.

Hi guys, great video, but perhaps you should ride eBikes a bit more to get a feel for distance. The battery life is entirely about your riding style. I like to ride with the assist off when the route is flat. Typically I can ride for 4 to 6 hours off road and only use less than 50% battery. Then I’m tired. Seventy this year but still going strong on my eBTB hard tail. Thanks for posting.
