Riding the cheapest Triumph's I could find at the Tampa Triumph dealership. The speed triple was really cool, but I'd spend my money on the tiger. Once again, I am not paid for these videos i just like showing people that it's not as expensive as you think to get into motorcycles. Keep it weird y'all #shadetreearmy

95 wow that's got to be one of the cleanest nicest examples I've ever seen. $2,500 is an incredible price. To know you can find other stock like this at dealers just makes you want to pick these up and preserve them just like the original owner has till now.

Man this video makes me happy beyond words. I've owned so many T3 Triumphs, from Tridents to Sprints to Daytona... I even owned one of the super rare Daytona Super III's and still own a 96 Speed Triple to this day. The T3 Triumphs (The carbeurated 900 triple and 1200 four cyl) are somewhat forgotten about today and they need more attention brought to them. Calling these engines bulletproof is almost an understatement with how many stories there are out there of engines with over 100k on the clock without any major mechanical failures... there are plenty of T3 era triumphs out there still for sale that are cheap, and at the risk of making getting these bikes on your hipster tier list, they definitely deserve to be on anyone's short list for a unique, soulful bike to add to their collection. They should be collected and appreciated, because without them, there'd be no Tiger 1050's for people to ride today either.

For buyers new to motorcycles: When buying any well used bike (>7ish years old or 30k+ miles) its super important to set aside $500 and get new tires on it. A flat on a car sucks, getting a flat on a bike on the highway is real real bad.

That speed triple is very cheap and the bars are stock . Triumph ran a single model race series with this bike in the UK lots of fun to watch. The first generation Hinckley built modular Triumphs from the 90’s were reliable if a little heavy and not the best handling . The only fault that affects most of them was the starter motor sprag clutch which is an engine out job to fix. I owned a 900 trident and would happily have paid $2500 for the speed triple but not as a first bike a 90hp 140mph bike wouldn’t be my choice to learn on.

I adore my Night Rod. Best bike Harley ever made imo. It feels like it opens up 2 more cylinders once you hit around 5k RPMs lol. I think they failed it, not the other way around. They should have really pushed it and the Harley flock would have gotten over it eventually. I think that's the mindset they need to avoid failure anyway. Mine has mid controls on it and I definitely prefer that to the forwards. Makes it feel way more sporty. It doesn't really come alive until you get a fuel controller on it. It was measured at 18:1 f/a ratio at one point. It's the leanest thing ever off the line lol

By car standards, that Speed Triple is an antique! Being in a state that you can ride year round, I think you guys have more deals like this pop up than we do here in Michigan. I don't even need a bike, but I'd probably jump on that deal if it was right in front of me. Good point on the insurance costs too. My brand new XSR900 is cheaper to insure than my 2007 civic.

Hey Shadetree Surgeon, I really like your videos. They provide a window into your world and also show me what it's like to ride a Harley Davidson. I would like to know what is the cost of ownership for your bike. Also, do you end up doing a lot of the maintenance for yourself or do you take it to the shop? I would also like to thank you for making content during the strange time. It's KZbinrs like you I keep my spirits going. Cheers! Keep up the good work.

FYI for any potential vrod buyers, when I worked at the dealership these came in A LOT. And many parts were obsolete to repair the bike.

That S3 all day long. Those carb'd gen 1 Speed Triples are cult bikes and classics these days in the UK and nice ones fetch TOP DOLLAR.

I owned one of these. Those bars are standard. They switched to regular bars with the next model. Great bike. Wish I hadn't sold it.

I was never a fan of the V-Rod, but the other day I saw one that had been slightly customized and it was really nice. (still wouldn't want to own one though) ;)
