THE LONE RANGER ROCK... before it became a "Rock Star" on TV, it was known simply as Indian Head Rock, because it looked like same just as other rocks on the famed IVERSONS had their own names and their own location credits. I never knew Mr. Stevens, but I had interviewed and included other Iverson old-timers for my 1995 documentary salute which fittingly was called MATINEE RANCH. Joe Iverson owned the Lower Iverson and his brother Aaron had the Upper Iverson ranch, together they owned the most famous and most used movie ranch in HOLLYWOOD history with well over 3,000 movie and TV credits starting back in the silent era right up to the 1970's when a freeway was constructed right through the middle of it! Yet another great priceless interview with someone who knew the ranch well. Steve Stevens was absolutely right about most of the people who now live in townhomes on the ranch ignorant of his history... it was actor Val Kilmer's father who was the developer in the early 1990's, with 1 acre lots on the Upper Ranch selling for $1 million. Locals and historians like myself tried to preserve the whole Garden Of The Gods immediate area but the developers quickly moved the huge Caterpillars in and moved so many famed sandstone rocks out of the way before our efforts could delay the work. Mr. Stevens enjoyed the ranch for real in its prime, whilst millions of us movie/TV fans could only embrace it from afar, as for us it was the Wild West where countless bullets richocheted off of the rocks, where Indians and outlaws would ambush stagecoaches and wagon trains, and super-hero's from the Saturday matinee serials would leap into action! Thanks Rob for the chance to hear this gentleman's stories...

Great stories from a guy who did so many things besides acting. I remember Annette from the Mickey Mouse Club through the Beach Blanket movies she made. To me she was an underrated actress with many talents that were under used. Roy Rogers was a favorite Saturday morning and prime time actor of mine as was Guy Williams.Guy Williams’ Zorro was a show I watched regularly and was the best production of Zorro of the TV versions of the character. It is fun to hear the stories of the actors I grew up watching. Thanks Rob for terrific show.

A life-long fan of westerns, one of my joys during an L.A. vacation was visiting the lower Iverson Ranch Garden of the Gods. Incidentally, that title came from the early 40's Columbia serial The Desert Hawk starring Gilbert Roland. Even though I had to trespass on the residential property now engulfing the former film location, I wandered around those rocks to look across the highway at the Nyoka Cliff. That highway between the Garden and the cliffs in the filming days was a ravine with a dirt road above winding around the cliff base. A super highway now dissects Upper and Lower Iverson. Although upper is now a gated community and the security guard was congenial, he couldn't permit me access to any of those former locations. He said I wouldn't believe how many movie fans they had to disappoint.

Guy Williams didn't actually replace Pernell Roberts on Bonanza. Though Roberts made plans to leave the series once the fifth season was over, David Dortort (Bonanza's creator) and brass brought in Williams as Ben's nephew Will, who ended up running off with Laura Dayton (Kathie Browne), Adam's love interest in four episodes; Will appeared in five episodes. Roberts finally left toward the end of the sixth season.

While I certainly remember Guy Williams as Zorro, I don't recall seeing him during his stint on Bonanza. This is the first I've heard of it in fact. Mr Stevens confirms what I've heard about Guy, a likable man, gracious to fans and popular with coworkers. He was another icon of a tv crazed boomer generation hero and role model cast in the same mold as Clint Walker, Clayton Moore, Fess Parker, Roy and Gene who never disappointed fans by failing to live up to their image.

She was in a multi-part miniseries appearance in the second season and a television movie in the next season of "Walt Disney Presents" playing different roles. I remember the multiple episodes that Steve Stevens was on (one of my favorites). I did not recognize him until the photograph. (I bet there is a story behind every photograph on the wall and I would like to hear them.) Such a gentleman. My sympathy for the passing of his beautiful wife. As a KZbinr I know the value of "like" and time spent watching. But this video was so interesting that not only did I watch the entire episode but wished that it was longer. I am 73 and lived through the entire era discussed. So Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Zorro, Annette, etc were part of my childhood and teen years. BTW: I made sure to give this a "like" 📹

Annette was 9 or10 years older than me, but as a kid she was my big crush. And Guy Williams was a hero of mine as Zorro, along with Superman actor George Reeves and James West Robert Conrad, as I played Superman, used a towel as my cape, I would use a long stick as my sword when I played Zorro and James West with hidden plastic toy knives I tried to put in the back of my shirt. And I remember Steve Stevens on an episode of Annette on the Mickey Mouse Club, but by that time it was all in reruns. Sorry Dave, just reflecting my memories. Loved this interview, thank you so much.

That was a great interview rob, I have to admit I never heard of the guy , I’m learning a lot of stuff since I subscribed to your channel, the story about him with Annette on his last night before joining the marines the next morning! His following night was a hell of a lot less pleasant I’m sure ! Keep up the good work rob, it’s bringing us all much needed joy in uncertain times ☘️
