Freelance sound tech chiming in, everyone has wireless in ear monitors aka IEMs (basically really expensive but really great sounding earbuds). These are custom molded to one's ear canal and that also causes quite a bit of isolation so they barely hear anything outside of them. That wireless signal has almost near zero delay even from hundreds of feet away.
