Now at age 83 and living on fixed income - couldn't possibly visit the area again, but did so much enjoy the memories that this video brought back to me. Spent a month there in the early 80's and loved every moment of it. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a 20 year Wyoming Backpacker. Been in the Tetons only twice. I fell in love with the Wind River Range, just 50 miles South of there. Four months. Wow! What a terrific change in consciousness from civilization. I like to stay out a minimum of 10 days on the trail just to get away from civilization. Check out the Winds next year before they subdivide the place. The main entrance is Pinedale. The Green River entrance is real good too. You have to camp out though.

Thanks Billy, My first trip out here was last October 2019 for 1 week and so when my lease was up in the AZ I thought it just made good sense for me to come out here. My first time I saw 399 was on the 3rd day of the park’s reopening like May 20th. It was at a huge bear jam at Pilgrim creek which I used the footage from for my first video! It didn’t take me long to figure out that sitting at a bear jam all day was not for me....Then about a week after that I decided to hike the Hermitage point trail in Colter Bay and that’s when I ran into 399 and the cubs all alone on the trail. I couldn’t ask for a better experience to find myself in when starting out on my 4 month wildlife photography adventure!

Shirley Duncan unfortunately there’s a whole sub culture comprised of some local photographers who have their own set of values relating to the wildlife here in the National Park. I have received harassing messages on other social media outlets from some of them who obviously think the park belongs to them and only them and if you get in their way they will do everything within their power to get you to stop hiking on trail and shooting wildlife photography even though a trail is opened up to the public. Needless to say I don’t cower down to being bullied and harassed on social media so expect more videos from me! Gunner

Why and how are you allowed to hike in areas frequented by 399 or 610 Good video but that area should be closed to hikers or whoever Dont need any more stress or pressure on the bears than they already have
@WildlifePatrol
@WildlifePatrol 4 жыл бұрын
Doyle Cave this trail was open to hiking and still is open to the public. It’s quite obvious in my opinion that any possible stress inflicted is more so due to these chaotic bear jams where you have a hundred crazed photographers stumbling over each other trying to one up their previous photo of 399, etc and only back off from the bear when a ranger repeatedly tells them to back off!! Now compare that reality to a lone hiker who hikes miles away from any road with very slim chances of getting a glimpse of a bear let alone 399. I’m no biologist but the fact I coincidentally ran into 399 while hiking is minuscule and still blows me away but with all that said, I would have to disagree with your outlook on the situation. Perhaps you’re not even here but I am everyday and I hike 5+ miles almost every day so I think I have a pretty good understanding of the situation. Thanks for your input ✌️
@WildlifePatrol
@WildlifePatrol 4 жыл бұрын
Doyle Cave I Also forgot to mention that the NPS has posted 100’s of signage stating KEEP OUT of an extremely large section of park land which they know to be 399’s habitat but this trail is beyond that closed area and is open to the public.
