@@TheShipsLogg What's a buff bit?
@erikdiers46363 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info about the buff, we usually try to avoid docks because its always so ackward with a PWC. We have one of those bag anchors and then just leave it float wherever we can. If you find a small slip then you can span the gap or diagonally in a corner using the front and rear tow eyes so nothing touches too.

hello friend. I gouged my 2021 gp1800r svho. any advice to repair? thank you.
@TheShipsLogg2 жыл бұрын
That all depends on how deep the gouge is and whether it is fiberglass and gelcoat or whether it is painted like the later models are. If it is not very deep then the method that I used in the video should work. If it runs below the gelcoat or clear coat, then some fiberglass work or paint work may be needed.

Thanks for the video Frank. I have the 2007 FX HO. There is some dock rash from last year that needs repaired. I tried your method which worked on some of the lighter scratches, but these scratches are a little too deep so I will probably have to re-sand and repaint. It is too large an area to use a small touch up applicator so I am thinking about using the Color Rite aerosol paint kit with clear coat. Anyone have experience with the Color Rite products?

Put some paint protection film.get a roll of 2x11 ft to do the 4 corners of the ski. You barely see it and it will save your clear float from deep scratches.

It finally happened to me this weekend. I'm EXTREMELY careful but out on the lake on my brand new '21 Yamaha GP I hit a small 2x4 that some idiot dropped in the water probably working on their dock. It left a decent size gouge in the hull. Now in the process of finding the best way and product to repair damage before it could get worse. Any tips on a good 2part epoxy to fill the damaged spot? I found the paint from Color right but wanting to know about strong filler that works on the special NanoXcell2. Thanks!

Any particular product endorsement? I recognize the Turtle Wax. TIA!!!
@charlieb9954 Жыл бұрын
Since it’s just a clear coat scratch, can’t ya just buff it out without using sand paper? Seems like the sand paper would make it worse than the actual scratch. And Yamaha literally uses automotive paint instead of gel coat . I hate that they don’t use gel coat. I got some surface scratches from hitting a stump or two below the water line. The scratches are below the water line so I’m not too worried about it. I’ll keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get worse from riding on the water at high speed.
@TheShipsLogg Жыл бұрын
If it's not too deep, yes you can. In my case, it was pretty deep hence the sandpaper.

Good video...i was always told to start with the least aggressive method first and see if you can resolve the issue going from mild to mean as opposed to the way that you did it. Difficult to see actual scratch depth, but I would have started with the compound, 2500,2000,1000 if needed. Especially on this finish, wouldn’t wet sanding be advised instead of dry? I have never sanded my boats/pwcs, always been able to remove scratches via compound, polish, wax method

@@robmickovic8343 Not a bad idea. I can say that I was rather nervous before starting because I really did not want to screw this one up. I will keep that in mind the next time.
