I think at this point he has tried so hard to hate on the brand he would look foolish if he flipped. Regardless of all Hublot does, 50 day power reserve, incredibly difficult ceramics (red, blue, yellow his partner was making fun of), incredible designs and in house movement production Nico has to stick to his original posts. It’ll be fun to watch him “flip” his feelings.

The first few times I watched this channel I had a huge WTF feeling about it. Never heard a guy say so many times * ***** in one sentence since I was in the army together with British servicemen. However Nico's way of doing things has grown on me and I now find his humorous style a refreshing extra to other watch channels. I also take his hate (and love) for some brands with a grain of salt, just like I filter out his truly valuable information from between his rants. And his content sure is something else than rehashed press releases. So to Nico: keep up the good work man, you're a crazy squirrel in a world of lemmings!

I didn’t pay a lot of attention to Tudor until pretty recently. I’ve wanted a Speedmaster for a while and was going to go for it, but I think the new Black Bay 54 with the Rubber strap looks absolutely sick. I’m going to my nearest AD soon to try it on.

@@AymanDaredia I don’t believe the 58 comes on rubber. That being said, generally speaking buy on bracelet when you can swing it and get the rubber a la carte. Way harder to do the other way around if you want some variety later and depreciation should be less typically.

@@Z06Wingnut Yeah, I looked it up, it does not. The reason I like the 54 is because I do have pretty small wrists and that rubber strap is calling my name. I understand what you’re saying, but I don’t really need or want a steel bracelet atm. I already have a steel datejust and a TT GMT-master II on bracelet, so I wanted something different. The oysterflex from Rolex is way too expensive as it comes only with gold watches, so in comparison the rubber strap with the Tudor is very reasonable. Also, I’m not sure if I’d even be able to get the rubber strap separately.

Sorry to disappoint Nico, but Rolex new saphir case back Daytona could’ve been nice, but unfortunately after seing it at W&W, the finish is really disappointing and not following Rolex’s perfection policy… I understand that I it is extremely hard to mass produce such movement and be able to properly decorate it, but it’s clearly not worth the hype around it. The NEW titanium Yacht master in the other hand, what a watch ! 😍 Best release is Tudor in my opinion, JLC definitely the most elegant new collection out of all but it would be nice if you talked about their policy of milking the customer and creating scarcity.

As an slgh005 owner I actually was hoping that Nico could call out GS on a more serious note. There are many videos and online posts talking about how bad their quality control is and how their watches are running faster than the claimed range, which itself is already inferior to say Rolex or master chrono standard. Meanwhile you've got Hodinkee guys deep in their pocket and all that they can say in their video is "it didn't happen to me". I'm saying this because i still like GS craftsmanship and I hope they do better. They should get their basics right before doing all those limited nature inspired stuff because it's getting very difficult to justify spending 2 or 3x the price of a very reliable Tudor for a less accurate and less anti-magnetic watch.

Hey man, SLGA009 owner here. I went with the Spring Drive because it's basically Grand Seiko's proprietary tech. Part of me is wondering if QC issues is either 1) they're mostly focusing on SD because that's where a lot of GS interest comes in and it's their "exclusive" cash cow, or 2) they've just expanded internationally too fast and the mechanical watches they're sending abroad don't go through the same QC as their Japanese domestic pieces. FYI no problems with my SLGA009 so far (knock on wood).
