Bottas was hired as a wingman for Lewis 100% By contract. And Bottas also showed how dominant the Merc car was in those days. Bottas is an avarage driver on his best days and yet because of that car he still managed to win races and even beat Lewis when Lewis underperformed. If Verstappen would have been in that Merc next to lewis then Lewis would right now be a 3 maybe 4 time word champion. Max>Lewis on any given day.

Recency bias at its finest. Both unbelievably skilled in their prime. People are rewriting history because Hamilton is now going through a decline that hits every single driver at some point. Bottas destroyed ever teammate other than Hamilton on pure pace btw

Bottas was a very good driver allowed to challenge for championships when Mercedes could afford that luxury. If he'd ever had a run of results like Perez', he'd have been out on his ear. Verstappem proved in '21 that even with a quicker car (anybody who disagrees can take it up with Adrian Newey), he couldn't handle Hamilton, especially as the pressure got higher. Otherwise, Michael Masi would still be working in the big league.

@azapro911 Max had an inferior car "as per Newey and Wolff" and still managed to beat Lewis. The championship would of been over with several races left if it wasn't for Masi

12:34 that was in 1998. This reminds me of michael's throttle getting stuck on silverstone 1999 where he broke his leg and missed a couple of races. Even his teammate then had a good shot on the championship. If that didn't happen, michael for sure would be a 8 time WC

I think Jos raised and trained Jos to beat Michael. I wonder if he assumed Max would have to beat a "Michael" type of driver to be WDC, which is not the case at all. In all honesty, the only other driver that could have pulled off 2021 was Michael
@yerrie190818 сағат бұрын
Lewis had a 7 year walk in the park to 6 easy WDC’s and since the 50 BHP advantage is gone a team and driver career imploded. The Max and his teammates BS is debunked in one race alone when he 18 years old in the rain in brazil made WDC Vettel, Kimi and Nico look like average at best. 18 years old, at a age Lewis and proper F1 greats were riding a bike to school. Max showed in 2016 he is way way better than everyone, 2016 was a lot better than 2024 Brazil, it just took the British 10 years to run out of excuses and realizing F1 will never come “home”

I admire schumi a lot and I’ve been seeing Michael in max from the get go. He has Michael’s perfection. In fact he makes less mistakes compared to schumi. Michael used to lose concentration when he was leading by a large margin. Max doesnt. However Michael had incredible pace when he was behind. Max has that pace but he’s not quite aggressive. They are the two best I’ve seen driving under wet conditions. But the biggest difference was schumis personality. He was the biggest star. Nobody could match his aura.

Funny because it was actually Mercedes cheating (illegal pre testing, illegal drs, illegal rear wing, spending more than the cpst cap now and demanded for the cost cap so Red Bull will have a hard time hence the FIA favoritism for Mercedes, conflict of interest within the FIA from Merceded, no penalties, media all over Lewis' hole). The only reason these are not that publicized because Lewis have the media on his side. I mean it's no surprise he got his connections from diddy party (bunch of weirdos and should all be in jail. This fact is covered up by the media as well because it taints Lewis' fake image).
