My fav Ed Sheeran song, and you cover it beautifully! I just bought an RC30 and realized how hard it is to switch capo position and layer every intricate part in softly. You did it seamlessly and perfect.

What is your wireless solution for the guitar, and what does the dbox do for you? I've recently gotten into looping but am limited in my equipment right now. Have the RC30 + extra switch (1 pedal) for track swaps. This then routes into a Studio Live AR8 mixer, and out to my headphones. Would love to improve this but I'm not too knowledgable on this type of equipment. Why do you use all of the effects pedals vs a computer? Just cause you already had them around? Great cover by the way! Thanks if you happen to answer some of these questions! :D
@theendingtothisstory5 жыл бұрын
I use a sennheiser G3 when I want to go wireless with my guitar. I'd suggest only doing that live though and not in studio. I use an active DI, I find it helps bring out a bit more clarity and brightness to my acoustic. As far as the effects pedals, I use them so that I can directly effect the guitar before the loop pedal. If I add delay to one guitar part and loop it I just want that one part with delay. In post I can only effect the guitar track as a whole. Glad you enjoyed the cover and hopefully this answers some of your questions :)
@davideolivari22937 жыл бұрын
Hey man! You're absolutely brilliant! I've bought a rc30 boss to loop songs; I have 2 question for you: 1)How to become good at looping, do you have any recommended exercises? and 2) to switch the tracks you need the A/B pedal or you can just switch using the rc30? I hope you will answer :)
@theendingtothisstory7 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks so much! The best advice I can give is to work on the first loop. The first loop acts as an alpha to which all the other loops will be locked with. If your first loop is good and in time then it will be much easier to build loops on top of it. When ever I am learning a new loop cover I always focus on getting that first loop right. You don't need a A/B footswitch to change tracks but it helps a lot. With the RC-30 you can change between tracks by holding the right footswitch down for 3 seconds.
@nicojean13848 жыл бұрын
Fantastic! But I have a question... How do you isolate the percussions during the verse ? What is the pedal on your right ? I'm going to buy a looper and I want to know how to do that!
@theendingtothisstory8 жыл бұрын
+Pikipaw J Thank you! With the RC-30 you have two separate tracks. The drums are on their own on one track and then everything else is on the other track.

About god damn time someone did a cover with the full loop! I'm assuming you've set up the reverb to kick in before the loop pedal (for the percussion mainly)? If so what reverb pedal do you use? Also your lower register vocals are definitely improving. You should do some harmonies next cover!
@theendingtothisstory9 жыл бұрын
I use a TC Electronic Hall of Fame pedal for my reverb and then I usually add a bit more reverb to the loop pedal track in post if I feel it needs a bit more. I used Waves Rverb in ProTools for that. And thank you Jake Howman I have been working a lot on strengthening my lower register and get more control on my voice the past couple months.

Hey man this is great! I love the bass drum and snare sound you get out of your guitar! Did you have to install a different pickup into it? I do the same things when i try to produce those sounds but it's not nearly as loud. I've been looking for an answer to getting that sound forever haha it'd be awesome if u had the time to reply
@theendingtothisstory8 жыл бұрын
+David Kim Thank you! I did not install a different pickup. The takamine I have came with their CTP1 pickup built into it which has a tube pre amp. It is one of the nicest sounding acoustic pre amps I have ever used. I pair that with a Boss GE-7 to boost as well as cuts some mids to create the bass and snare sound. What do you use for picking up the bass for the beat on your guitar?
@theendingtothisstory6 жыл бұрын
My guitar (takamine Santa Fe ESF) has a tube pre amp built into it which gives the guitar a nice full rich sound. When I am doing the percussion on my guitar I typically am using my boss EQ pedal as a boost pedal. I give it a disco Smillie cutting out some of the mids and boosting the highs and lows.

Quick question, what's the thought process behind having two mics? Why not just sing lead through the mic plugged into the rc30?
@theendingtothisstory6 жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons why you should do this. One, you will have better control over the mic in post. When I am done recording the song I am left with two tracks (Guitar and Vocals) then I am able to adjust the level of each track as well as add their own EQ, reverbs, compression and delays to each channel. If I used the through of the pedal everything would be on one track and therefore anything I do to the vocals will also effect the guitar and vice versa. Another is I am able to loop a guitar part and sing at the same time without looping the vocals. When the mic is in the through it will be recording anytime you are looping. The last thing is that you will get a much cleaner signal as well if you go direct instead of the through.

Perfect, thanks!

Janvier Madeleine Thank you for watching. I am using a Neumann TLM103 for my lead vocals.

What audio interface are you using? Are you hearing yourself through an earpiece or studio monitors?
@theendingtothisstory9 жыл бұрын
I use Protools as my DAW and I use a 002 at my audio interface. I am wearing in-ears so that I can hear myself.

Got myself the same loop pedal. Looks like you have the best loop covers. Subsribed!
