These pays off are what One Piece is all about, fights are kinda secondary and I think that is where people got disappointed skipping everything to watch Gear 5. Because without the pay off of the time vested in the story build up to get to that point it's just a goofy transformation that is hard to grasp and even more perplexing as to why someone would be so hype for it. But when you've vested the near 1100 episodes of story to get there and the near 20 years of story build up and foreshadowing to arrive at it then it becomes hype in the way long time fans described it and One Piece in general. It's extremely refreshing to see new people starting the journey who actually understand and enjoy the pay offs of the story. Chopper and Wapol are a great example of a fairly boring fight in terms of animation and fight choreography, but the story pay off is everything and I am very happy to see that resonating with both of you. Can't wait to continue on the journey with both of you as we arrive at Alabasta, you are in for a real treat with that arc.

Drum Kingdom Arc will solidy as one of the greatest arc in One Piece, you know why Luffy, Nami, Zoro just smiled when Kureha, Chopper and us the viewer cried? Cause they don't know what we know, they don't see what we saw of Dr Hiruluk. It's an emotional ending and I love it.

One Piece story pay offs are truly like nothing else in the world, they are so unique and multifaceted. The man is always firing on all cylinders. Things like Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Soprano's, etc. there are a lot of amazing shows with complex character motivation, depth/dynamics at play but nothing else comes close to resonating with me in the same way that One Piece manages to, over and over again. Oda just has this secret sauce/way of taking somewhat basic human concepts/feeling's and presenting them in such a powerful and succinct way. The depth ends up coming from what certain actions or scenes personally mean to the different characters involved, because you know them and it's just, so good. He always gives you enough to where you feel it with them and get hit from multiple perspectives. The further into the series you get, the more invested in their stories you become. When Luffy accomplishes something/takes a step towards fulfilling his dream, I'm at the point now where my chest literally swells up with pride for my boy, like my son just graduated or something, it's unreal.

Yall were loving the ending so much i just gotta let yall know... Oda is fr a goat cause he didn't even plan it, he just came up with it on the fly. He felt that the original ending he planned was too bland, and wanted a larger send off. Turns out the "drums" of drum island resembled huge tree trunks pretty well, so he turned one into a giant sakura tree using Hiriluk's science. Whatever Hiriluk made was just pink stuff that stuck to the falling snow, making the illusion of falling sakura petals. GODA 🐐🔥

One of my favorite moments in this arc is Luffy's speech to Wapol, right before he defeats him. It doesn't matter if Wapol is a king, or even a god. It doesn't matter who is great, and who is not so great. Because a fundamental aspect of Luffy's personality is that he doesn't care what a person is, only who they are. If you're his friend, he will fight for you. If you're his enemy, he will defeat you. It's just that simple.
