about 7:35 : personally, I do.. when my friends tell me they struggle I always tell them to talk to their therapist about it no matter WHAT IT IS but when I struggled with 'hard' stuff, especially thoughts of unaliving myself, I just wasn't able to tell my therapist about it, because I didn't want her to worry, or to feel like she 'failed' helping me (she was already treating me for depression for about a year at that time), or that she blames herself in case I have an attempt or anything of the sort..

This track is a fun take on Freud’s free association and a fun play on how trauma/issues can passed on from one person to another (usually generationally or within peer groups) but in this case the twist being that it isn’t the client passing it on, it’s the therapist. It plays off the adage that most therapist choose therapy as a career path because they need it or have had therapy themselves for their own traumas; and that sometimes their own issues can reassert themselves whilst dealing with a particular difficult client’s issues or after long days of dealing with multiple stressful clients.

Not long ago my therapist told me on only our 4th session "i dont think you can be helped" Not, "i need more training for this" "im not sure how i can help, but maybe if you ask your parents to refere you to blah blah blah" or anything like that. She just looked my dead in the eyes and said "i dont think you can be helped." She was my 3rd one from the same company, the first 2 i jsut felt uncomfortable with, and with her i didnt know how to feel i was just bored of meeting new people, being forced to open up and then let down over and over Im now on the waiting list for cognitive behavioral therapy. Im hoping this will help more, especially with my autism as i feel like my communication, way of thinking, sensory needs and eye contact issues will hopefully finally be adressed and it wont feel as pressuring in there So glad you reacted to this tho! ❤

If you liked this song, Alec wrote another one called "Demons", which is also very interesting, one of my personal favorites, and it talks about some sort of attachment style, since it talks about how he has "demons", and some person, the listener supposedly, is the only one who knows and keeps him from doing something... Rash, I suppose one could say.

I live in Germany and I went to serval different therapy forms. Behavioral therapy, psychoanalytical/depth psychology and atm I am going to systemic therapy. And each one has their up- and downsides. And indeed the psychoanalytical therapist used a couch like this. I was very irritated at first because he offered to ways the couch and a normal chair. When I was laying on the couch he sat beside the headpiece and I was looking away from him. I only had a few sessions. But when I asked him why he explained it to me like this: many people with trauma or other psychiatric illnesses like to interpret the mimic and gesture of the therapist which can lead to misconceptions. And it helps to stay by yourself at therapy. And tbh I guess this was something I benefit from this sessions. To your other question: I am a social worker working for a social psychiatric service atm and my assumption is that patients say this to therapist to prepare them and to make clear they suffered. And some really made the expirence to be 'too complicated' or 'too traumatised' for the therapists (actually a friend of mine has this situation twice). And surely there are many people who learned that they need to let other people feel good or don't be a burden to them. I my opinion everyone can benefit from therapy no matter what they've gone through in live or what kind of profession they have. Because usually we don't learn in school how to process, show and recognise our feelings, the experiences we have and so on. At least not here in Germany as I know. Thank you so much for your videos and the open minded and honest reactions.

Thanks for sharing. It is amazing that in schools we aren't taught (or teaching) how to process emotions etc. Also thanks for sharing your experience of psychoanalytic therapy, it is something that I don't know much about however am going to learn more about. What if the notepad saying "I need help" is a double meaning where Alec needs help and no one seems to be able to help him. Sometimes we need several therapists who specialize in different traumas and mental illnesses. Or that's been my experience so far.. idk It also makes me think about how some people can't support others as like a generalization because it makes them face emotions that they can't carry (which isn't a therapist's norm ofc but in the gen public it can).
@TherapistReactsOfficial11 ай бұрын
I can't remember now if I mentioned it in this reaction but I have often thought before that having more than one therapist can be helpful. Or having a break and then returning to a different therapist, but same modality, can also be helpful as it can get a different perspective on things. However, I do understand that going through the trust / safety building phase again can be incredibly difficult. I guess with all things related to therapy it highly depends on the individual and what their needs are etc.
@Angie-qi8pt11 ай бұрын
@@TherapistReactsOfficial oh yea, that's a very good point. Which kinda circles back to other things you mentioned in the reaction too, finding a good fit can be difficult and can push ppl away from finding help. Yep, very true.

😅 This song is true for me, but I don't remember what i said as i was talking to a female therapist. She never said it out loud, but she quit the day after talking to me. I found out from the staff that she's now taking therapy herself for what one of her patients said. In more ways than 1, my life is a Nightmare. No that's not a mistake, I have been talking to Nightmares (FNaF 4) in my dreams since I was 4. I even named him Nightmare due to his looks, which you should look up. Somehow, i named Nightmare and had chats with him before he was even in a game. He's friendly with me, but i can never remember what we talked about during the night. While at mental hospitals, they basically used me as a test subject for mediation. Nightmare kept me sane during this, despite the problems it caused with memory loss and basically becoming a robot that does anything you tell it to, then has no recollection of anything it has done. Ill tell you more if you want to chat, but slowly. I don't want to have another therapist who's too overwhelmed and ends up quitting.😂😅

That's bad news if you've caused your therapist to seek therapy, which causes the therapist's therapist to seek therapy! Sheesh! I've seen some *really* scarey clients/crazies, though I wasn't compelled to seek 'supervision'. Besides, in the worst case, the Police thankfully relieved me of my burden ... for life, or until he does himself in, gets killed by a fellow psychopathic cellie, or drops dead before then. (Promising penal opportunities 🙄.) I had a leather chair very similar to that (second hand, mint condition) for client visits. When I retired, it retired and came home with me, and I sit in it now even less than when we worked together (and it's STILL in mint condition ... the chair, not me. I wore out.) Anyway, my love enjoys it. (I considered therapy a must, though I can't truthfully say that I've missed it ... at all!)
