I am trying to fix my fabric stash problem by teaching my husband to sew and inspiring him with images of himself, in his quality handmade clothes, fitting him, being comfortable, colour and fibre composition he wants... Being free from dependence on fast fashion... It is working! He also now is so understanding about ironing and helps me with my projects too! At the moment he is still learning so we do it together, but it is a great ploy. Get your kith and kin into sewing and let them browse your stash.

A small tip that helps me is that when you sew very soft, flowy fabrics, you can use very cheap paper tape. Sew through it, and it tears away easily afterward. It will eventually dull your needle, but for me, that sacrifice was worth it to layer what felt like 47 pounds of lace fabric. I have never had it damage my fabric and I use this trick often.
@cozymoggele2 ай бұрын
Are you talking about decorative thin washi tape? C: thanks for the tip!!

When sewing very thin fabrics, I think I recall someone saying that you can make it work by placing some paper over/under/between(???) the fabrics. Just to give the machine something to work with other than air and netting. I haven't tried it but it seems like a good idea. And since its paper you just rip it off the stitches after you're done.

Great job making a Little Black Dress out of a table runner! I just finished making a tunic shirt and a lace up vest out of a linen tablecloth with crocheted lace trim, I reused the lace trim on the shirt and am trying to figure out if I've got enough fabric left for pocketses to be trimmed with the or if I'll just trim the vest with the rest of the lace. and OH THE SERATONIN I got from "I ordered these in a drawer for six years for JUST THIS MOMENT" ... packrats, unite!! ...why do I suddenly want a lace waistcoat? Or any kind of waistcoat? Thank you for the bat break, that was awesome! Honestly the part I hate most about sewing? Using an electric sewing machine. They're noisy, I don't have as much control with the foot pedal as I wish I did and ALL of mine seem to have ... uhm, personality. Congrats on getting so much done, I'm lucky to get a thing done in a month and I'm not filming any of it!
