Hello! It is surprising that you manage to keep the entire video sequence in focus throughout the video, using manual optics. it looks like you are a super professional in your field or I don't understand something... In our country, in Russia, you can buy this lens for $ 5 or for 10-12 together with the Zenit camera. I am very impressed with your work and wish you further success! I didn’t have any motorized focus, I mainly just went handheld with manual focus and an ND filter. I would adjust aperture on the fly depending on the exposure, but most of the time I’d say I was between F2 and F4

So tempted to get this lens to pair with my a7siii, I have a question though. Seeing with how this is a vintage lens and isn't as tack sharp as modern lenses, would it be a good addition to a kit of sharp sony and sigma lenses? I love the look and character of this lens, but if I am pairing it with more modern lenses on a project, is there going to be a noticeable difference?

@ZachMayfield2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess I could have talked more about that hehe. Honestly I love the lens. Shooting on it is a bit sketchy because the focus and aperture rings on my particular lens are loose, BUT I do plan on buying a re-housed cine version of the helios which I've heard is much more reliable like modern lenses. Check out Iron Glass dude, they make sick ass cine mods of old lenses.

@@ZachMayfield other than the clip on audio looking a little janky this was probably your best work to date in my opinion. Color matching between multiple sources could use a little work but most people who don't do professional video work probably wouldn't notice that. Honestly, your color was matched fine with the rain vs sun. It was much more noticable between A and B cams. A good example being @7:33 where the saturation difference was really extreme as it goes from A to B. That's just nitpicky feedback because otherwise I think you really did an awesome job capturing this whole thing and nailed telling their story.
