I Shot my BEST Roll of Film... On Cinestill 400D 💜

in this video i decide to test out the cinestill 400D that was recently released. and the short of it, i am impressed and i think this is one of the best film rolls i've ever shot. i hope you enjoy these photos as much as i did.
(i am so sorry for the audio, it's my first time using this mic so there are a lot of audio peaks and blows. i'll do better next time!)

Love the honesty. Laughed at the fact that you haven’t been to the well-known/touristy spots near your place prior to this video. Well, I guess that’s the good thing about taking pictures, yes? Haha! I also love the photo of the couple! That one was awesome! I have just loaded my first 400D roll today. Hopefully I get some nice shots with it like you did!

Very cool video as always! Cinestill also has their redscale "Redrum" film so I think that brings their number of film stocks to 5. Assuming you shot at 400, its definitely interesting to me how much the highlights were washed out knowing its mostly likely Kodak 250D. I've shot 800T and its often an underexposed grainy mess but i've never had any problems with shooting 500T (at 500) developed in both C41 and ECN-2. When my highlights are blown out i'll up the exposure of the scan and then in camera raw i'll lift the shadows and drop the highlights of the raw file a bit. It should bring out a lot more highlight detail without destroying the shadows.

ooh right, i’ve completely forgot about that redrum film LOL and i shot it one stop over like any other film stock so that’s probably why 🤔 never had this problem with other film stocks though! and oooh i should try that with my scans, thank you!

Hi Jaycie, found your channel through your review of the Bessa R2a :) Had the camera for a while and wanted some more opinion on it, then watched that and funnily enough i just bought 3 rolls of my first Cinestill 400D and saw that you had this video about that film stock hehe. Im about to shoot that film tomorrow in wintery Stockholm. So just sitting here trying to decide on a good camera setup, taking ether the Bessa/M240 combo or the Nikon DF/FM3a so one digital and one for film in case of the weather getting too out of hand ;) Anyhow, i liked the two videos i watched and think you have an honesty and calm harmonious way of talking to your videos i really enjoyed listening to, so you got a new sub. Keep shooting :) /regards Martin.
