My sister is a pediatric leukemia survivor and her cancer was, in the doctors own words, "almost certainly" a result of exams and medication my mother received during her first pregnancy. Environmental cancers are real, it's not always genetic.

The wheelchair streamer guy actually did need a wheelchair. I forgot which KZbinr did it, but they did a deep dive into this story and found that he had been posting about his condition, appearing in a wheelchair in photos, etc, before he even started streaming. He just had been going through physical therapy for awhile and was able to walk very short distances, but other than that he needed a wheelchair.

He is also back on Twitch since October under a different username. IMO, there's a difference between "lying for personal gain" and "lying for emotional support". The former is entirely about scamming people, while the latter is about trying to come to terms with something (about themselves) that isn't true. True fact, people who work in call centers are confronted with a lot of social engineering scams, and once you experience one or two of them, you can pretty much catch anyone in a lie, because liars who are engaging in scams have a grandiose sense of entitlement that "they deserve" the thing they are scamming. Customers of large companies tend to pull that stunt a lot, that they "deserve" better treatment, discounts, free equipment, etc yet come storming into the customer service like the goodies are there just for them. People who genuinely have a need, usually push away help because they don't feel they deserve it, and have to be encouraged that they can accept help from strangers. That's what gets me to try and go above and beyond to help someone. Billing error that resulted in some overage, as long as you identify exactly what you did wrong, I had no problem finding a solution to reduce the bill. Mr.Wheelchair guy, I probably would have been initially ticked off about it if I had helped with a donation, but I probably would also have forgiven him for it if he was honest and explained things. Like once caught in a lie, don't dig a deeper hole. Come clean.

However, from that very short clip, I call tell this one's light... is very faint. She is vain, desires status and authority and uses what little of it she believes she has to justify her horrific position, she is dishonest, and will go through insane logic hoops to justify not giving money to charity, when the simple argument of "I don't want to, I don't have money to spare" might have sufficed. I do however believe she does not genuinely believe that children who suffer from cancer are "meant" to die. That was mere deflection. She perhaps believes there isn't much that can be done to save them or alleviate their suffering, and thus any donations on her part would be a waste of money, but if she were to reflect on it and grow some nuance to her argument, she would settle for the still rather heartless "Those children are done for anyway, no use wasting resources." No one is "meant" to die, obviously. Though all of us will eventually, that is not our purpose on this Earth. Not what we are meant to exist for.
