22:57 I have played a lot of duels recently and in my opinion the problem lies on the fact that the game is too deterministic for certain decks while being completely random for others. For example, if you build a fire mage, pirate warrior or elemental freeze shaman, you will get a bucket that fits your game plan 75% of the time. In contrast if you go something like fel spells warlock, you will get offer a fel spell once every 4 buckets. The end results is that if your want your reward back, you either have to be really lucky or play meta decks that have very deterministic buckets. And now that there is a lot of data, it's really easy to find which decks exploit the system.

Yeah sadly I have to agree on this one. Even on casual I've been hitting 12 wins with freeze mage really consistently don't get me wrong I have LOTS of fun playing the same deck (yes I'm that A-hole that keeps the big paladin frozen for 30 turns just to make them feel what unfair is like, sorry not sorry) over and over but whenever I try something different doesn't feel worth it because I get 3 loses in a row due to my opponent always being a top meta deck and my buckets/treasures really bad. I miss playing token demon hunter and I can't even play value rogue cuz the decks are just bad

The Agony’s got me thinking. Wouldn’t it make more sense if the bleeds from Garrote shuffle into your opponents deck? They are the ones bleeding.

Yeah, it's probably just for mechanic's sake that it is the way it is (to give you control), but i'd much rather they did it that way

The bleeds are effected by your spell damage. If they were in the opponents deck they would be buffed by the opponents Spell damage.

This is essentially what I'm trying to make work on ladder with Tamsin and Educated Elekk. I also have a wild version that tosses in Augmented Elekk. Try to discount everything with Thaurissan, then dump all 4 elekks cast the curses then plague of flames. I enjoy it

On the determinism issue: They have nerfed to many of the strong early treasures you can build around by making them later tier and rarer, while also adding a lot more early treasures that are either filler or low reward for the decks you can build for them. They need to take some higher tier or rarer treasures that actually are weak where they are and buff them in the same fashion; lower their tiers or rarity. You can't just keep fixing a games balance with nerfs without also buffing some other things at the same time. Your first set of three treasures basically did nothing. They offered no synergy or were way to marginal. You wound up forced to take a terrible treasure that forces you to use things you draw the turn you draw them, while sporadically offering a useable discount at all. It is terrible. I find this is the case currently in well over half of the Duels runs I take. Three treasures which either make my deck worse or effectively do nothing. Or to use them, require starting to try to build around them when you currently have close to zero cards that even interact with them, and the payoff for successfully finding cards to use with it is really low. I should not get the treasures that interact with weapons when my deck has zero weapons, and yet I am amazed how often I get first treasure picks that literally do nothing at all, or require me to hope to draft a decent weapon. I should not get offered a fire spell treasure if I have no fire spells in my deck, or my only fire spell is Wildfire and you offer me fire spell damage...just f-off.

A possible way to reduce the determinism while allowing you to build in certain directions is to just make the initial duels deck creation less important. Maybe even making it a draft or something so you can't just build a 15 card deck where they all share a keyword or effect that the game cares about.

Aint what you get depending on when it spawned? Thinking of your third game with all the eggs, you got 2 eggs, but that bird would have gotten before the raptoes since they came on the board after the bird and the eggs. I might be wrong here tho

Hybrid of Pick 3 and bell curve. Each card could have attributes that govern it's "playstyle" like pirate decks can use this card or Mage decks can use this spell. That way when you build for Duels, you have a normalized 3 dominate unit, but also a bell curve weighted system. So each treasure would like to pull a lot of weight through the dominate cards, but still leave up the small chances the extremes on the bell curve would populate the treasure choices. Most gameplay would have cards that have synergy, a few would be perfect cards, and few would be okay cards...and the rare chance of obscure cards that could be useless or selectively meme...

By the way I queued five times in a row to elemental freeze ping mage. It was obscene, luckily as dude questline pally, getting card draw from second bucket. Those water elementals and double damage to frozen enemies are disgusting.

I’ve been playing that deck. It’s low-key insane. I’d rather run that build than fire/flame waves build every day though. Hate that build.

idk how to fix duels passive treasures. its very frustrating when the best decks are always getting the exact treasure they want, but then i build spell shaman with the 'no overload' power and no minions and my treasures are two minion based and one 'when you overload' so 100% worthless. the only answer i can think of is to double or triple the number of treasures, but make it more deterministic, so if it sees you have a deathrattle deck you always get a deathrattle related treasure but the one offered isnt always the same. buckets of treasures related to different themes so you get three different styles/themes of treasure and the randomness is what you get from each bucket. 3 themes would have 9 possible combinations of treasures offered. Edit: it may be cool if in a 3 treasure bucket 2 of them are equally likely and one is rarer and stronger, but idk if adding that extra level of luck and high rolling might just be irritating. probably depends on how much stronger it is than the other possibilities.

I think the opposite. Instead of creating insane decks with crazy synergy, making treasures with downsides/upsides, or just weal upsides that don't make the deck untouchable creates nuance and unexpected synergies that make the deck more fun to pilot.
