I'm sure that's one reason he went with Mizuno. DOD is a smart young man and his brand is a business. I'm sure Mizuno will do more to promote him and his brand than Taylormade will do. But I just finished watching his Taylormade fitting and he was carrying the ball further than he is with the Mizuno equipment. I would say he would be with Taylormade if they didn't harp on his hitting it off the ground so much. But his BNRB mini driver he was consistently close to 300 carry and 315 max carry. Plus he was going through swing adjustments during his fitting with Taylormade. At the end of the day, King will do what's best for him and this looks like a good partnership and great decision for him.

These guys simply did their job to fit YOU for YOUR game, not anybody elses! High praise for the guys from MIZUNO! I've hit DOD for decades. I admit I'm a tee using weazel on most holes, but I hit a lot of drivers off the deck during my rounds. I've done several fittings over the years at places like Hot Stix and Cool Clubs and everyone fit me into S flex based on borderline S/X swing speed. The Mizuno fitting is the only one that fit me into X because of a fast tempo and late release. Once I switched to X flex I finally started hitting the ball a lot straighter. Now days I know what I play and what I like and so now if I need to make a change I test different options as consistency over time is also an important component. I also play all of my woods shorter and no one fits for length other than measuring your wrist to floor. I don't trust fitters anymore. I do it myself these days.

Did a fitting today after getting back into golf and just sim hitting at my house last two months on some 15 year old fitted pings. The 245 were incredible. I had to buy them. My dispersion was like 10 yards with a 7 iron over 20 shots. I was hitting these clubs consistently 20 yards further even with my slow 80mph swing speed. Could not believe how great they felt. I tried every comparable brand in the same price range and nothing was as consistent as these.

If you liked the Mizuno MP33 you should see if you can find a quality used set of MP18s. I played the MP33 in high school and was fit into the MIzuno Pro 221 but have gone back to the MP18 because it feels exactly like the MP33.
