The fact that you're still so positive and looking at the bright side after all these set backs speaks volume about you. Hope you'll turn the corner soon, and I'm looking forward to more Portugal cycling content! Love that country during my short stay there.

Oh Thomas, my heart goes out to you bro. And stop being so hard on yourself! There's often invisible damage internally after impact, there's no way you'd have known. In my experience, warrenty just immediately replaces after impact, they don't want to take the risk. You're no idiot bro, you're a legend for battling on. Wishing you some better luck soon ❤️💛💚🔥🙏🏼

Lucky you didn’t have a catastrophic failure whilst riding. I really know what you’re going through. My wife and I moved out from the UK to California some 27 years ago. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong. We didn’t really consider giving up but I imagine a lot of people would have. It’s a long story but basically we stuck it out and it turned out to be the best thing we ever did and we are still here. Stick with it mate. Things will get better. Good luck.

You're so fortunate Team Cycles is replacing your busted frame. That's really great news from a bad "break" pardon the pun. You beat the break without being stranded or worse, injured. That's the beauty of the faith in Portugal. You're standing on holy ground where the dogma of the faith stands! Best of luck ahead.

Sorry to hear about the bike frame being damaged, you're spot on about the small crack in the composite opening up on the ride. To cut you some slack, there's a reasonably good chance that you wouldn't have been able to see the crack when you checked the bike over, but the cracks then opened up when you rode it. As you say, you were lucky enough to find the cracks when you got home. That's way better than 'finding' the crack when the frame fails while you're going downhill! The way composite panels get damaged from impacts, it's the other side of the composite which suffers most. There's a science behind it if you're interested, Google "Impact composite damage" if you're curious. There's some nice images on there which show what happens. Keep your chin up Tiger! It'll get better from here!

Hey mate, glad you got your frame sorted. A word from the wise. Go down your stairs barefoot, 10yrs ago I fell down my stairs carrying my Madone while wearing carbon soled cycling shoes. Bike came off just fine and I managed to keep it from hitting anything. I came out with a dislocated collar bone and compression fractures to my C4 and C5 vertebrae. Safe riding mate!

Just a set back man. All about perspective. I randomly threw a clot at some point and it settled in my LAD (99% block) which resulted in a series of heart attacks recently. I'm only 33! Hypertrophy of the left side and quite a bit of lost function. I'm hopeful that ill return to form after some time, and the same for your frame.

Hello Thomas, welcome to Portugal, I just found your channel, and you just win another subscriber. We share the same pasion for bycicles and Portugal. It was painful to see what happened to the bicycle, but we must be grateful that you saw the failure in time, and prevented a possible serious accident. In the future if you need to repair any carbon parts, there is a store in Alhandra that works with carbon "Gelu carbon creations". Take care! And again welcome to Portugal

After road cycling and racing for 10 years in may I was involved a serious road traffic accident that led to me being in hospital/rehab most of the summer and my leg was so badly damaged that I’m still not able to bend my leg enough to ride. I’ll make it back to the sport I love hopefully soon but I just wanted to say to everyone who’s reading this to enjoy it, have fun and most importantly stay safe out there. Bikes can be bought, bodies not so much…

Sorry to hear mate. That unfortunately is one of the drawbacks of carbon fiber, it can "hide damage". I'm sure when you inspected your bike everything did seem fine. Good thing you noticed it when cleaning as opposed to having the frame fail on the road

Sorry to see the way things are rolling at the moment, it will get better. I moved to the Austrian Alps 10 years ago. Although tempted i would never trust carbon frames here, particularly when unseen damage can be life threatening at 100kmh descents. Try top end steel or titanium, might just be a life saver and you may actually prefer the qualities and most certainly the looks!
