You can put items on auction if you place them in the special spots on the bottom of the screen on the Black market :) there you can assign the price to every of three items on display. P.S. I guess the "selling basket" is more visible for players in the UI, I couldn't find the auction at first as well :)

15 dollars for a sandwich? Sounds like a normal price at an airport to me. Luckily only once a piece of my luggage was lost. It was caused by a delayed initial flight and the delay caused missing the connecting flight. Luckily my bicycle showed up a few days later. Without the bicycle my trip in South America wouldn't have been the same.
